Re: Taxes/spending under Obama

I think my taxes will increase, but I think federal spending will stay the same, just get redirected (Bush was a pretty big spender).

(To be fair, I think it'll be the same thing under McCain as well)

Re: Taxes/spending under Obama

I don't think my taxes will go up and I think spending will increase. I'd rather have the opposite and pay down the debt. But that's just me trying to be fiscally responsible.

Re: Taxes/spending under Obama

Mine will go up. for me and my small business.

As for everyone else? Note Obama does not say by what percentage he will cut taxes....

My guess, no tax cuts and a raise on me and people like me.

You don't think entitlement spending will continue to rise at the same rate it has since FY2001 (~6.9%/$89b/yr) ?
Or do you think enough discretionary spending will be cut to cover that growth?

I guarantee my taxes will go up - and so will yours - as the Bush tax cuts will expire.

I also guarantee federal spending will go up, as increases in entitlement spending will far outstrip any cuts in discretionary spending.

Re: Taxes/spending under Obama

How much money do you think people on the board make? My taxes won't get higher under either McCain's or Obama's plan. Frankly both plans suck as they will result in higher deficits, but Obama's plan will result in slightly less debt.

Sorry, I was thinking in rates, not monetary amounts. There will be increased spending, but not an increased rate of spending, IMO.

I think it'll be the same under McCain, though.

Enough that their taxes were cut in 2001 and 2003.

They will when the 2001/2003 tax cuts expire.
Unless, of course you think that Obama will see that they are extended.

Re: Taxes/spending under Obama

My taxes under Obama wouldn't go up, but I think spending will definitely increase. It's been increasing steadily and I don't see Obama breaking that trend.
