Even if you don't have children his policy will make the economy get worst (effects of tax increases) which will eventually effect us all in one way or another. Increased taxes on business are either passed to the consumer (you and I) or made up with cuts in employees.
You will be cutting your own throat by voting Obama.
McCain may not be much better however he has vowed to keep taxes the same and cut spending by government....thats what we need right now not a socialist tax and spend Robin Hood. |
You're right that raising taxes on business will probably result in higher prices for consumers and, maybe to some degree, loss of jobs. Of course, we're talking about a marginal increase here, so let's not go nuts. Taxes won't be any higher than they were during the Clinton years and we weren't clawing our way through a depression back then, were we?
I agree with McCain on taxes to a certain degree. I agree more with Obama on spending, I think, in principle. I don't think an across the board spending freeze is necessarily that bad, but if Obama does what he says and makes the
right cuts and the
right increases in funding, I think we'll be better off. I trust his judgement on that. If it were anyone else making that same proposal, I'd prefer the spending freeze.
That's the fundamental thing about Obama. I trust him. He's a reasonable, rational, intelligent guy whose vision for the future I agree with and who, in my opinion, has been far more honest with the American people than any politician in recent memory, especially John McCain.

I disagree. Not on the economy. People are selfish and when they hear they're getting a tax cut, they vote for the guy that's going to give it to them. Now, McCain can say he's going to cut taxes, and when the dust clears tax rates would be lower, overall, under McCain (assuming he could get that done with a Democratic congress). However, they'd be lower for big business and for rich people more than for the lower and middle classes. Does that benefit those people? Absolutely -- but not directly, and that's where McCain loses the argument. If there were middle and lower class tax cuts in McCain's plan, he'd be better on this argument.
Of course, the economy is not the only thing that matters. If I were voting on economy alone I might actually be voting McCain. I think McCain is all over the map in places I don't like on social issues though and his big issue, the one he cares about the most, foreign affairs (and specifically the war on terrorism) is completely the opposite of my position.
This is a guy who believes that "radical Islamic extremism is the transcendent issue of our time." I don't want anybody who thinks that to have their finger on the button. IMO, we have much bigger problems to worry about.
I also think his pre-occupation with the war on terror is such that he'd gladly sacrifice his positions on economic or social issues in order to get what he wants from Congress in that regard. Either way, it's at least 2 out of 3 bad knocks with McCain and no more than 1 out of 3 with Obama.
