I think that we need to look forward fifty years and see what we can do to help America remain the great country it is. Have a look at the poll and vote for any of the choices you think apply. Then give us your reasons.

Keep this in mind when you look at the choices I have given. America has recently lost most of its manufacturing jobs to China etc. Immigrants in this country will typically be looking for blue collar jobs.

You don't think we will need to go invade a few countries? Consolidate like they do in business in order to survive? I think we should be demanding oil revenue from the Iraqis as recompense for freeing them with the lives of our young men. Time to get ruthless people! Okay, I'm going to duck now after that remark!

If this Poll was about the UK instead of the US

I would certainly prefer that the UK acted upon the illegal immigrants that we do catch. Many get housed or find lawyers who then work the system so that the migrants are then put into camps or centres and then stay for a few years while the lawyers milk the public funds.
The UK needs legal migrants to do the jobs UK citizens can’t or won’t fill.

The EU taxes imports that are built outside the area and it p****s me off that an Apple Imac (for example) costs $1700 in the US and £1700 in the UK. The $ is not worth the same as the £. As a consumer I am ripped off. I can see many US buyers would feel the same if the US taxed imports.

What you also have to remember is that if you tax non American products you should expect those countries you start blocking to reciprocate. The US may be mighty but if you didn’t have export markets you wouldn’t be so mighty.

If you had two armies I would vote for this. The UK has no draft and has instead a professional army. I have always believed that armies should only be made up of those what want to do the job. Putting in the incapable and the detritus who can’t do anything else is a recipe for future losses on the battlefield.

Personally, I feel Russia and China should have the USA up there as a major polluter. The same argument about stopping one or another country polluting should be aimed at the US first.

This I can vote for, whichever country I live in. 50 years time our kids will be the driving force of the economy.

The very fact that you have to spend so much on an Imac is perhaps why the US is the one that needs to reciprocate, no?
