The phrase "have your cake and eat it too" seems to be fairly pertinent here. McCain, in an effort to be consistent on two of his top positions, can not seem to make up his mind. He wants to appear like a leader who got things done in the senate, especially considering he halted his campaign for two days. He has also run a campaign against "pork barrel" spending, which the bill he pushed and voted for, is laden with.

Does this make you less likely to vote for him?

He also didn't suspend anything. It was a political ploy - much like taking his ball and going home, but not really.
See, he said Wednesday he would suspend his campaign on thursday so he could work on the bill. If he really wanted to suspend anything, why wait? Nothing like postponing the postponement.
So then Thursday comes and he is at the Clinton global initiative and basically going on about how things will be different when he is President, which sounded like campaigning to me. He also said he couldn't pull his ads fast enough. So I guess suspending on thursday didn't work.
Then of course friday came and he went to work on the bill a couple minutes and then of course the campaign was back on!

The video didn't reveal any new information for me, as this was already shown right after the Senate voted, and what the McCain campaign slogans were.

What I did find incredulous about the video was during the last 10 seconds of the video. McCain referred himself as a hero for some people. And the conservatives say Obama have an air of "self-entitlement."

I don't think standing by your principals is such a good idea when a couple of million people might lose their jobs as a result. It's pathetic that this pork had to be added to this bill, and John McCain should now make the responsible lawmakers "famous" as he said he would.

It appears someone is blinded by ignorance and rage. The topic at hand (which happens to be the bill) isn't of concern for the thread. It is the inherent contradiction in John McCain's position throughout the video. He cannot maintain a rational, coherent stance. This is highly presidential.

For the record, I am NOT pleased, what-so-ever, with Obama for voting for the bill. However, that is an entirely separate subject.
