I have stated several times that I would love to have the McCain of 2000 today, but I voted for Obama here. That is based on the fact I am not sure any more what McCain stands for, and if the illusion from 2000 was the true McCain or not.

Sadly, people will likely be talking about Obama2008 4 years from now. Not that I'm a big fan of the current Obama, but it's sad how any career politician gets recast by the party machine after reaching the top of the ticket.

A question like this is hard to answer. Without 9-11 and the ensuing Iraq war I think Bush would have been a good president that would have taken the country in the right direction without interfering in the affairs of other countries.

Doubtful, because look at his policies without much interference from 9-11 and Iraq - Enron taught his administration absolutely nothing.
So sure, may not have gotten as many soldiers killed, but then he still would've allowed the financial market screw over.
