Re: Who won the debate tonight?

Neither candidate won because neither tried to explain to the American people the dire need for federal aid to Wall Street to avoid economic collapse, and how it will be an investment in America that will be paid back. They dodged it like it was more of a third rail than Social Security.

These guys both suck.

Re: Who won the debate tonight?

I'd say it was a tie.

McCain won on "appearance." Obama failed to control his facial expressions. All his irritation, impatience, anger frustration was written all over his face.

Obama won on speaking. All his sentences were complete. Sadly the same can't be said for McCain who had a few moments of gibberish.

Personality I think is a tie. Obama seemed more comfortable. McCain's jokes about miss congeniality were lame. However again Obama's facial expressions left him looking childish more than once.

Substance. Obama hit hard on the economy and McCain failed to defend himself in the manner I think he should have. McCain spoke better on foreign policy matters and really smacked Obama hard with the whole sitting down with the dumbass from Iran. However I think they both lied a bit, stumbled a bit, and failed to answer some questions. So I'd call it a tie.

Over all I don't think either gains or loses votes from this debate and the undecided will more than likely remain undecided.

You are all so blind that you can't possibly see how McCain destroyed Obama, who has the most liberal voting record in history. McCain is sly like a fox.

McCain had the style, thats all he needed and thats all debates are about. All you liberals trying to say "He didn't get his facts straight, he is wrong, BLEEEEEH!". Debates aren't about facts you idiots! If they were, do you think Bush would be our president? In terms of the average american, in which only the fact that there is a crises going on is known, McCain one hands down. McCain made some quick jabs, and ducked, jabbed, and ducked, jabbed and ducked and was careful not to risk an open knockout. All Obama did was just try to keep his defense up. McCain's style overwhelmed Obama's.

McCain one, give up your hackery and admit it. Its not like you would lose anything. It was expected anyways, kind of like Harkin taking Iowa.
wow.

he stuttered constantly and his voice shaked with lack of confidence as he spoke.

He butchered names, he was totally blasted on his silly pork nonsense, and did nothing to distance himself from Bush on all the bad decisions that were made.

OF course, which is why its such a defeat for Obama.

Oh yea, you forgot he was in the debate too you know.

Look, I completely agree, they sucked, they never talked about real issues. But McCain still took the style part. That is unarguable and thats what made McCain differ from Obama in this debate.

I went in knowing that neither person could ever possibly get my vote so I have no bias.

McCain came off as someone totally out of his league. He appeared unintelligent and uncomfortable. I suspect the polls over the next week will reflect this view point.

Cool Re: Who won the debate tonight?

Three times Obama brought up the mistaken war in Iraq, as being a wrong taking the eye off the ball...so it looks like McCain agrees with Obama that the Operation Iraqi Freedom was an initial mistake and we would be better off with Saddam still in power. As a result, Obama won the debate.

Re: Who won the debate tonight?

I hate to say it. Obama won.

I watched it. Obama grilled McCain.

I'm still voting for McCain though.. lol

HAHA!!

Because unlike Obama, McCain is not a member of the NAACP.. and I know for SURE that McCain will not increase welfare and give my money to a bunch of really dumb white girls who like to have litters of half-bread children with random black men! Ouch! What? You don't watch Maury Povich? haha.

Down wit white yo! Big Black Cock for president!

I'm to the point where if Bill Clinton could run again, I'd vote for him instead.

So McCain stood there trying to sound more knowledgable yet on so many points the lies or ignorance was obvious.
Obama couldn't answer what he would be able to cut specifically.McCain couldn't answer that either and irresponsibly said he would spend everything - yeah right bull****.

On the economy, McCain just didn't get it, and had to continually mischaracterize or flat out lie.

I don't think there was a clear winner though, It think both did quite a decent job - McCain clearly looked annoyed though, maybe loosing his temper again?
I don't have the text of the debate yet so I'm not sure exactly what he said or claimed about Eisenhower word for word.

However historically it is generally accepted that on the EVE of the Normandy invasion Eisenhower wrote two letters and one was a "in case of failure letter" where he assumes full responsibility for any and everything that went wrong. The other letter was a more congratulatory letter for if things went well. I don't recall whether the failure letter was indeed a resignation letter or not so I'll have to look that up.
