Disclaimer: I'm aware of the impossibility and impracticality of such a scenario, but let us assume that all things would fall nicely into place for the sake of the poll, it is, afterall, hypothetical.
I, for one, would actually vote for McCain based upon this. I truly detest Obama's policies and I feel Ron Paul would be a moderating presence in the White House. For some reason I feel like I'm going to get grilled for this. |

He's definantley not a "Yes" man, and would provide a different perspective to think about before a decision was made. I wasn't a huge Ron Paul guy, so i don't think it would make me vote for McCain, but it is an interesting hypothetical.

The past administration showed that disagreement doesn't result in good things for you.

Since I'm not voting for McCain anyhow, it wouldn't change anything, but seriously, if Ron Paul were the VP choice, that at least would have been a serious improvement over Palin. I still wouldn't vote for McCain, but I wouldn't have the intense hatred for a McCain/Paul ticket that I do for a McCain/Palin ticket. |

Current Mood: | Re: An Interesting Hypothetical. If Paul were given a serious position, say Treasury Secretary or VP, it might cause me to re-examine my vote... but I'd have to believe it. McCain, all throughout the primary season, along with other candidates who are now close to McCain (Thompson, Giuliani) were nothing but condescending toward Paul and, more importantly, his positions. Given McCain's track record in this election, I'd likely view the selection of Paul for any position to be another pander pick (like Palin), trying to bring in the money and votes of Paul's supporters. I'd highly doubt that McCain would give Paul any real power or that he would listen to or follow any of Paul's advice.
I expect the three people who would actually be running things if McCain were to win would be himself, Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham. Anyone else, including Palin, will be just a fly on the wall. |

But if Ron Paul was in the race and stood a chance, I might vote for him over Obama.
