I think the two things are seperate issues. Its not like if we hadn't gone into Iraq, the housing bubble wouldn't have burst. Sure the spending on both these issues is very high, but I think we are capable of succeeding on both fronts here. Iraq is coming along now, and spending there should start receding as we draw closer to conclusion. We have a responsibility to the people of Iraq(and to future allies we may help out) to finish what we started. We need to set a precedent in our foreign policy that we will not run at first sign of trouble.
Prehaps, if there wasn't so much focus on trying to exit Iraq early, Congress would have done more to ensure the stability of the housing market before it fell apart. Thats just speculation on my part, as I doubt they would have done anything anyway.
