Have made poll to reflect multiple votes so that you can vote for a political party from each of the Five major party systems our country has experienced. For those with little knowledge on the subject I made it easier by listing a person which personified that party and have linked most of the sources you will need. Please read through the wikipedia articles to determine what parties' views you most agree with and by all means please defend your vote! PLEASE ONLY VOTE ONCE PER PARTY PERIOD First Party System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Second Party System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Third Party System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Fourth Party System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Fifth Party System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Current Mood: | Re: What historic Political Party do you most identify with? Fun Fact: Teddy Roosevelt's progressives share alot more in common with todays progressive than I thought: Quote: |
The U.S. has flirted with some kind of national health policy six times over the past 100 years, only to see the reform impulse wither each time. For instance, a key plank in Theodore Roosevelt's losing Presidential campaign of 1912 was national health insurance. President Harry Truman tried again after World War II, but he was thwarted by a potent combination of political forces, including the vehement opposition of the American Medical Assn., which was determined to defend doctors' incomes against the threat of "socialized" medicine.

Of course he was also a conservationist... |
