Lean: Slightly Liberal Gender: | Do you think America is ready for a Black President? Do you believe America is ready to elect an African American ( or any other minority) for President? I am not asking about Obama, that is to say I'm not asking if you believe *Obama is going to lose because of race based voting. What I'm asking is, if a CLEARLY superior candidate for President was running, and he/she was a minority, do you think they would lose because of a large majority of Americans harboring a fear of a minority Commander-in-chief?
* I'm trying to be as objective as possible here. No doubt there are some people who believe that if Obama does lose it is going to be because of his race. Personal feelings aside I don't think it can be proven that if Obama does lose it is because of his race.

Slightly more then half of eligible voters vote, so to win, you only need support of about 25% of the population. I think a black person or a women could easily reach this plateau in this election. |

Do you believe that America is afraid to elect a minority as President if he is clearly superior to someone who is Caucasian? Everyone is racist to some degree, so basically do you think that a significant percent of Americans ( 25% +) are racist to the degree of being afraid to elect a minority as President. |

And i do think he will lose and that racism will play a factor.
But i am hoping that I am wrong.
And a lot of the states with the most racism remaining are southern states where he would not win anyhow.
If its real close we might never know the answer.
But i think if McCain were to win by more than Bush over Kerry, we'd have our answer.

Of course, I also suspect a fairly large percentage will disapprove of everything he does solely on race - perhaps as much as 15% of the population. |

****, there's no way on earth that Obama gets less than 45% of the vote this November, and this is a situation where it's up for debate as to who's more qualified. Imagine if Obama had 8 or 10 years in the Senate and was running against someone like Huckabee. It'd be a ****ing slaughter.

Lean: Very Conservative Gender: | Re: Do you think America is ready for a Black President? Absolutely no frigging way are we ready to elect a black candidate for the presidency. Race has been at a shrieking pitch since day one of Obama's candidacy, and from both sides.
We have more skeletons in our closet than...some humorous comparison about a person/incident with a great many skeletons in their closet.
Sorry, I'm not "on" tonight.
Anyhoo, we'll be ready for a black president when throughout the entire duration of his candidacy, his race isn't brought up even once. |

I don't think it can be proven that if Obama does lose it is because of his race. | 1. 'America' are 2 continents. Do you mean the USA?
2. Human 'races' don't exist.
Both politically not correct ...

There will be rioting in the streets, cities will burn, Confederate states will begin a new civil war and Michael Moor will finally make a coherent augment.
