I looked for months. My forum had become overrun with radicals. I think they were all 14. There were some brilliant people that I learned a lot from but most of them left.

When the election is over I hope we can keep it lively here. You'll see why I can't call myself a conservative.

I love a good debate, and DP seemed to have (some ) rational adults on board, as well as fair moderators and enough differing opinions so that it was never in any danger of turning into an echo-chamber for side. All in all, I'm glad I joined.

The true reason I came here is I thought that I had found something that had been tickling the back of my thoughts for a long time and thought I needed somewhere to share it. I made a whole list of stuff up of stuff that was bothering me and typed in a search engine for "Political Debate". I got this site and posted it. I'm pretty much an observer on society with a very tolerable threshold for understanding it seems. After a few responses on her I just sorta stayed. Not too many A-holes but you got you agenda driven people here. Easily spotted by sum. Pointed out by others. Not seen by many. Almost hitting the nail on the head but letting their bias get a little too much of them. But over all a great place to come back to. At least for me. I get my **** for being a simple observer that posts interesting points that are non-opinionated. But that's just the over all me. And this is an over all great place to come back to. But for being number 1 on a lot of search basis has a surprisingly low comment rate. And is an overall great place to come back to. I think this is my first post in reference to what im talking about earlier. http://www.debatepolitics.com/archives/27044-free-america.html Almost leads to a new thread topic that could lead to be very interesting for people that have been interested in the political area for much longer than me on this site. "My first post" It is kind of odd what was on your mind the first time compared to now.

Another board I was on for a long time came to have too many extremely juvenile, insulting and obscene trolls - with increasing numbers of the legit posters leaving. I don't do flame wars and just put trolls on ignore but with quote features that doesn't always work. For my own changing circumstances, I wasn't willing anymore to put up with the extreme juvenile sexist troll posts put up at women anymore.

The last of the very few legit conservatives also had left, leaving just a mass of Obama maniacs and trolls posting hate messages at me - with a few exceptions.

The inaction of those moderators allowed the board to dramatically deteriorate in my opinion. Rather than complain, I just posted a short thank you note for interesting messages and for the few decent ones and then just change to a different board(s). This one has the most diverse topics of political/social topic boards. I also am on some other more partisan or specific topic boards.

This also is a thank you to moderators of this board... it is reassuring (particularly if there is any personal topic discussion) to know there are moderators who allow heated argument but draw a line on just hate personal attacks. Thank you again for your time and involvement.

Well, long story short, people at hip hop sites don't really want to have any real conversation about any real topics. So, amidst participating in these sites, I began to thirst for something to engage my conversational persona.

So, I went looking around and stumbled across this one. It seems cool enough... I don't really know much about it, and I don't have the patience (or the tenacity, really) to haunt some forum until I'm satisfied with it. And, here I am.

facebook had an app called U.S. Politics that was being sponsored/maintained for several months by NBC I think, and people from all over could discuss various aspects of the election process and take opinion polls and whatnot. it was great because at the time I was in college and kept very unusual hours, but facebook is very international so there were always people posting no matter the time of day--mostly college students so they were literate enough and fairly informed of current events.

anyway they shut down the application without warning and I wonder what happened to the other regulars...are you guys here? US Politics anyone? identify yourselves...
