Seems to me like he'll lose the vote of already weary evangelicals and ad to that many already disappointed conservatives. So should he?
I don't care who he will get for his VP.

I would never vote for him.

Re: Should McCain pick a pro-choice VP?

I don't think it would hurt him as much as others say it would...and that's mainly due to his opponent. Obama simply will not catch the vote for evangelicals for many reasons, not the least of which is skin color. If Hillary had won the nomination, then he'd most assuredly have to go pro-life.

I'd still say go pro-choice because I don't see too many moderates and independents making their way toward Obama. Usually these groups, more than others, judge from platforms and substance - something Obama has absolutely nothing of.

I'd prefer he didn't but really I don't think it matters much. It's not a deal breaker issue for me and I imagine likewise with most.

Well if he picks a pro-choice veep, it will surely cause a rift in his base, and he already has zero chance of getting any liberals to vote for him. His age will surely be a question, as he very well could lose his mental faculty in the next few years, and a pro-choice veep will then take over the reins. A definite gloomy day for the pro-lifer's. And being is he is vehemently opposed to women's rights, I'd say there's absolutely no chance of him picking a pro-choice veep.

If he can find someone who can shore up his weaknesses in domestic policy/ age (and he has no other options) then he should still consider a pro-choice possibility. I would assert that most moderates are more concerned about domestic policy, and his biggest weakness (to some) appears to be in that arena.

I may have to change my mind on Romney. Even though he'd be my personal choice (not that I'd vote for McCain anyway), I have a feeling putting Romney on the ticket following this gaffe about his houses (which doesn't seem to be going away) will make it easier for Obama and Biden to paint the GOP as the "rich white guy" ticket.

It depends on if you want him to win or lose.

He should pick Ron Paul. That is the only way I could even consider voting for him.

Ron Paul is not pro choice. However, he is opposed to a federal ban on abortions. He supports leaving that issue up to the individual states.

Thus he abides by the Constitution and opposes federal meddling into the states' matters.

Either way, I'm tempted to think he might take a slight dip in the polls now but by November all the flag waving bible clutchers would be back on the bandwagon.

Personally, I think he should go Romney.
You can't run any country for long with extreme policies whether or not they're right or left wing. I'm pro-life so of course I don't want a pro-choice candidate in either party but abortion is only one of the issues and I don't think it should be a partisan issue.

I like McCain, think he's a decent guy and find Obama untrustworthy. All the same, he's hardly the raving left winger people are making out any more than McCain is the bleeding heart liberal some so called conservatives think.

What McCain has to do is learn from Obama. Like it or not, his age IS an issue and his choice of veep could be crucial. Let's hope it isn't a total nutter and crook like Huckabee!

Romney can say, without lying, that he earned his place on the ladder of success. Unlike McCain, he didn't marry into money , or get into college because his daddy had some pull.

Romney was born middle class and made the best of educational opportunities presented to him.
McCain was born into priviledge and made the least of it.
