New Hampshire is a beautiful state. I visited there once. I could never live there for the same reason I couldn't live in Washington or California. Too many liberals.

Re: Free State Project

I LOVE the idea that they're promoting. And I'd love to participate in it.

However... it's New Hampshire. The state itself isn't high on my list of places I want to visit, much less live in.

There's parts of California that are red as the south. It's really a mixed bag.

The free state project was a good idea. Right up until they chose NH.

Did I ever call you an extremist? No. I was merely stating that it's a fallacy and its insulting to say that people that disagree with you hate freedom. Don't put words in my mouth. And the founding fathers were really a mixed bag. If you remember, some of them wanted a monarch. Still doesn't change the fact of how ridiculous it is to claim your opponents hate freedom.

I would welcome an "invasion" by people who sincerely believed in liberty and wanted to preserve our American values.
However, i doubt your opinion is universally shared.

On the other hand, there really is a serious invasion of a similar type that is determined to destroy America, and believe it or not, I have not yet seen anything on this web site that has even mentioned it. Have you ever heard of La Raza, La Reconquista, and the creation of the nation of Aztlan? Google those words and get ready for some serious nail biting.

In this case, it's not 20,000 freedom-loving Americans; it's 20 to perhaps 50 MILLION Hispanics (mostly Mexicans) who are determined to take "back" the entire southwest United States and create another poverty-ridden Mexico. With their exponentially exploding population, they will out vote us "gringos" and create their own state and local governments. California could fall in as little as 20 years. The entire US could be mostly Mexican in as little as 60 or 70 years.

Objection your honor, this post has no relevancy to the point at hand. Can you really not defend your own beliefs so much that you have to change the subject? We're talking about the FSP, not la raza. If you can't stay on the topic of hand, please don't bother to reply to my posts.

WV is home, but right now I'm in San Diego. Not sure where I'm going next. LOL

I'd have to research it, but off the top of my head... no. I only say that because when we traveled around to run rivers in other states... NH never came up. Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky, New York, Maine, Idaho, California, Colorado - Yup, all of those came up. But NH? Not once.

That's not to say that there's not some decent whitewater there somewhere, just none that I ever heard of via word of mouth in while living and working in the whitewater industry.

Maybe they have crappy run periods or something, though.

A lot of people had that same objection. There are a lot of liberals, but NH also has a fairly high percentage of libertarians. However, the really bad news is that NH is surrounded by very liberal states--ME, VT, MA, CT, RI, NY.

The two finalists in the FSP poll were NH and WY. I would have picked WY because it has the lowest total population and a huge land area. In addition, the surrounding states are a great deal more libertarian than those surrounding NH. Perhaps in the future, a FSP project could be started in WY or another suitable wesatern state.

But then again, the number of people who really value freedom seem to remain a very small minority.

I never said that people who disagree hate freedom. I didn't use the word "hate" at all. I only made one of the ten choices on the poll "Don't like freedom." However, I do admit that it was a poor choice of words.
