| Re: Do you personally know of anyone that has abused a public assistance/welfare syst My old college roommates for a year in a house we were renting (Me and a friend had our own rooms, these two shared one) got themselves enrolled on food stamps.
This was despite one having their parents sending them money all the time, and the other purposefully taking out higher loans to buy a big gaming computer and other such stuff.
The reason they ended up doing the food stamps however was so they didn't have to pay for food, thus allowing them cash to buy beer...buy cough syrup (we told them they couldn't smoke pot in the house, so instead of realizing we meant "no drugs" they figured dexing would be fine)...buy the ingredients and equipment to make home made absinthe (at the point they started this my ability to handle their annoying craziness had broke and I mostly was just counting down the days till their lease ended).
