if that is true, which way would you rather your tax dollars be spent?????

Also, prison is needed because being educated does not negate one's ability, desire, or inclination to break the law to the point of incarceration.
I'd rather just see some reform. Prisoners are coddled with everything. It's like a hotel that you just can't leave (except for work release, and then you can even leave).
If anything, we need to bring back the days of Shawshank and subsidize some big ball-busting boys who will anally violate you if you act up. People aren't afraid of prison, and while that is true, we're going to be stuck with having to pay for far too much of it.

as to college not being for everyone, well trade schools are even cheaper, and their is no financial hurdle to internships & on the job training or the trades
and this is more of a long term fix
but how many kids could avoid criminality if able to get a college degree instead of a criminal degree at their local correction facility
it is not about sending criminals to college
it is about providing better education so there are less criminals, in the future |

it is about providing better education so there are less criminals, in the future | You’re talking about letting a criminal, perhaps a violent criminal, you didn't say, completely off the hook so that some random unknown other person can get a state paid-for education.
IMO you don't let criminals off the hook regardless and if this random un-named would-be student can't afford an education then s/he should get a job. |
