I don't believe in Jesus or God or anything that organized religion teaches us. It's totally bogus. I said "other" since people that don't exist cannot talk to me. ;)

If people want to talk about religion and all its bullshit, I don't listen anymore. Not interested. And I am especially not interested in those who want to preach religion. STFU I don't preach to people about my atheism!

lol...this is where I get the biggest kick from atheists. Do you have infinite knowledge? Are you aware of and know everything? I only ask because if you do those are "god-like" attributes. The point I'm making is it's okay to have your own belief or disbelief in something however since our own knowledge/understanding/opinions are limited by our finite minds imo to be skeptical about something may be the better tact to take rather then placing yourself in the position of "know-it-all" and declaring any other belief system as "bogus".

Sorry, too many facts don't add up for religion to be anything but bogus. If I'm wrong about this, I honestly don't care. I am comfortable with my morals, myself, my beliefs, etc. I don't impose my lack of religious beliefs on anyone, and expect that those who are religious won't impose their religious beliefs on me.

Why would you take my opinion so personally that you would feel the need to essentially insult me? That doesn't even make sense to me. But if it somehow makes you feel better, then be my guest. *eye roll*

It wasn't meant as an insult. I thought it might be a way for you to look at those who do have a religious belief system from a different perspective rather then being so...reactive. I apologize if you were insulted.

Last a heard the only people who claim to have full explanation of how the universe was made and the purpose behind it are the believers.

I didn't feel insulted--no worries. Again, this is not an area about which I am remotely sensitive. My family members (my mother, sisters, and brother) all are very, very religious people, so I am fully aware of those who have a religious belief system. I say nothing to any of them of how bogus I think their religious system is. It's pretty simple--I keep my mouth shut, and expect the same of them, which they do. I was sure my mother was going to harass me about not allowing my son to be baptized. She said she was heartbroken and then never has brought it up again. I am impressed.

I'm glad. Kudos to your Mom too.

It has oft been my experience that when people share their religious belief it is not done in a "Grace" like manner but in a condemning manner. Talk about a turn-off. But then again I too had issues with atheists who adamantly deny even the possibility that there may be a "God". I keep thinking our minds are finite. How can they be so sure. So I relegate their attitude to also a "faith" based belief system, not unlike the religious, since there is no way to prove either of their pov.

But yet, you started out preaching it right here:

Profession of non-faith plus your added editorial of what faith is (bogus).

If she is anything like my mom she very well may have baptized your son herself when you weren't looking. :rofl

Okay. I don't have a problem with you or anyone else rolling your eyes at my posts in this thread. :2wave:

LOL! When we were visiting my parents at their house, my husband and I went out for breakfest and left Weston with my mom. My husband was joking as we were driving away where he pretended he was my mother calling the priest: "Hello, Father X, please rush over to my house right now so we can baptize Weston." We were laughing hysterically over it. If she did do that, I wouldn't care. I'd find it humorous (since baptism means nothing to me). ;)

If she would do that behind your back, she would do other things as well.

Be warned.

Is stating your opinion equal to preaching?

Is stating your opinion equal to preaching?

There is a difference between stating your opinion and looking down on others as part of that "opinion".

But I am not getting into this with you guys today. I am in too good a mood to deal with a bunch of atheist nonsense.

Just wait until I go behind my wifes back and get my son's haircut.

Congrats on your good mood!

I'll leave you with this thought. If you didn't want to get into it, why did you respond?

My husband teamed up with my stepdad for that one. I came home to find my son had his first haircut in my absence. My husband had been bugging me about it and I had held him off with "not yet." But my parents came to visit and my stepfather suggested to my husband it was time and that's all he needed. He knows I won't yell at my stepdad like I yell at him.

I directed to aps to point out how she stated she doesn't preach but yet she does preach in almost the same sentence. Atheists are far more brutal and denigrating in their "sermons" on the uselessness of religion than most any person of faith you will encounter.

Atheists proselytize with greater alacrity and commitment than any Christian I have ever met.

My son's hair is already cruling up in the back, its getting so long. I don't know how much longer I can wait.

Oh get over it, jallman. I said that I never say anything about people's religious beliefs to their faces. I made a generalization in this thread, which came from my heart (I tend to be more brutally honest here than I do in my "real" life). I truly believe that religion is bogus. I don't have a problem with those who think this belief of mine is bogus or who look down at me for having such a belief. But as I stated previously, I never tell my friends who do believe that I have these thoughts. No one in my family (well, except my atheist father (who is very happily married to my very religious mother)) knows I am an atheist. I think they would be shocked to know how I really feel. In other words, I keep my mouth shut about the feelings I expressed here (but it felt so good to express those feelings here!).

Okay, Jerry, like what? I'm curious.

I don't think she would do that behind my back. I really don't.

Someone getting a little sensitive? Go have a smoke and calm the **** down.

Most proselytizing does "come from the heart".

By all means, enjoy that belief. I truly believe atheists have a mental defect that drives them to compulsively prove their perception of their own mental superiority but you didn't see me express that view as an indictment of atheists in this forum.

Good, then we can still be friends.

Yes, I have noticed that atheists get a little endorphine rush off of making sure that their atheism is confirmed and appreciated by other atheists and often affirmed by a joint disdain for those who are religious.

I welcome the disdain you have towards us atheists. Sorry, smoking is for losers.
