Pick the Best President in last 50 years and rank them all

Who is the best president in the last 50 years (poll) & rank them all in a post

  • Total voters
    63
Best to worst:

Reagan (inspiration)
Clinton (for working across the aisle)
Nixon (for China)
Obama
Bush 41
Ford
Bush 43
LBJ
Carter

This is a good list. I would probably make some minor changes, but for the most part I agree with it.

Best to worst

Richard Nixon
Ronald Reagan
Bill Clinton
Bush #1
Gerald Ford
Jimmy Carter
Bush #2
Barack Obama
Lyndon B Johnson (Tonkin, Great Society, Immigration Act of 65) what a mess he created

Ranking them:

1. Clinton - I wasn't a fan but he proved me wrong and won me over.
2. Obama - Rescued us from the brink of economic bankruptcy. Refocused our military efforts where they should have been in the first place which resulted in the capture and killing of Bin Laden
3. Johnson -
4. Reagan
5. GHB
6. Carter
7. Ford
8. Nixon
9. GWB

Didn't vote, they all sucked...

They sucked because they are all puppets of Banking Cartels. Last President that wasn't was Kennedy.

The worst one was Reagan, Oh how I hate Reagan. So So much. I guess I could rate them worst to least worst

Reagan, ****ing trickle down cowboy
W Bush, dumb **** leader of dumb **** people who just came back with Trump
Lyndon Johnson Racist asshole sold us a bill of goods on the Great Society
Bush, Reagan wannabe
Clinton, Goddam Nafta, Goddam prison expansions
Obama, ****ing ACA focusing on insurance instead of addressing the hospitals and their extreme costs
Nixon, Vietnam, war on Drugs, marijuana misinformation
Ford, he pardoned Nixon
Carter, he didn't do alot- I like President's who don't do alot...

I vote Trump.

Reagan
GW Bush
Clinton
Ford
GHW Bush
Carter
Obama
Johnson
Nixon

Reagan, because of all of them I believe he was the true believer in personal liberty vs a government with too much power. He built our military up. He was respected around the world by our allies and enemies. The fact that the Iranians released the hostages just hours after he was inaugurated says a lot about how powerful our enemies perceived him.

GW Bush, I am not a bush republican and while I did not agree with a lot of his policies, he kept us safe after the 911 attacks. Kahlid Shiek Mohamad, along with other 911 conspirators are in jail today.

Clinton, I agreed with very little of his policies and I still remember Mogadishu, where the US military got their asses handed to them by a bunch of 3rd world rebels because they were unprepared. I am also appalled at his sexual behavior both prior to and during his presidency. I listed him high only because after the shellacking the democrats took in the 1994 elections, he knew he had to work with the republicans to get re-elected. He sucked it up and did so. Yes he did balance the budget but only because he was working with republican controlled houses.

Ford was in a difficult position. He wasn't elected but did what he could to restore trust in the White house again. I guess he failed at that because he lost to Carter in 1976.

GHW Bush...Had the majority of the country behind him during the Gulf War. But simply because of his "no new taxes" broken promise I put him lower on the list. All he had to do was not sign it and let the house over ride his veto.

Carter, the Iranian hostage situation. I think the US lost a lot of respect around the world during his administration.

Obama, The Affordable Care Act, which turned out to be not so affordable. It was the largest government take over and completely anti American. In the now former president's own words: "that's not what America's about." Benghazi. Whispering in Putin's ear about having more flexibility after the election. I will give him credit for giving the go ahead in getting Bin Laden.

LBJ, the Vietnam war.

Nixon, he left a lasting blemish on the presidency with Watergate.

Bush 43 is the worst?

Reacted to Radical Islamic Terror in the wrong way playing right in to Osama Bin Laden's master plan to bankrupt the West while radicalizing Islam, was the last one with the power to head off the the global melt-down known as Great Recession, was in charge of the party that nominated McCain setting up the disaster known as Obama, added tons of costs to the education system when we needed to be lowering costs, added tons of costs to the medical system when we needed to be lowering costs...

You get the picture.

  • Obama
  • Reagan
  • Carter
  • Ford
  • Johnson
  • Clinton
  • Nixon
  • Bush I
  • Bush II

Surprising ranking to see this from you, and being libertarian-left (anarchist light) you put the Surveillor in Chief as the #1.

If you have something to say then out with it...

I don't know if I can pick any of them. They are all bad for different reasons. Reagan went crazy with deficit spending and GWB and Obama went crazy on the surveillance state.

I pick no one, though I admit to not knowing much about all of those past Reagan so I won't vote out of ignorance.

Yes, to varying degrees of magnitude. This thread is at the end of the day insight into what each member considers to be important, we can tell by how they assemble their list. That we see so much difference in the lists testifies to the great diversity of the DP membership, which is the greatest strength of DP.

Clearly you weren't around when Carter was Prez.

He was an effective leader and president. That doesn't necessarily mean I agree with what he's done/did.

none of us who were on or nearly on the 1980 Olympic team will ever have much use for Jimmy carter

That list looked like trolling putting Bush 43 last.

They all sucked.

George Bush Sr. sucked the least.
