How important is it to have a replacement for Obamacare prior to repeal?

Do you use 18,000 dollars of medical care in a year?

Not usually but we can get close on occasion. My wife has some medical issues that pop on a a semi-regular basis. Hell, we were at the ER just today due to her irretractable migraines. But overall, so far, we have put in more than we have taken out.

You don't necessarily need a replacement, you need a plan though. Repealing for the sake of repealing it for political talking points is not a good reason for me.

So basically what you have is prepaid medical with a catastrophic insurance policy.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here.

If it is repealed, with no replacement, and these people lose their insurance, wouldn't they just go back to what they had before? Which is nothing.

In some cases that would suck, in some cases they'd save a buttload of money.

I guess it depends on why they didn't have insurance before. Is it because they're young and healthy and don't want it? Or is it because they have pre-existing conditions and didn't qualify for insurance? Or simply because they were too poor to afford it?

If it's the first option, then those people will probably be happy they don't have to pay for insurance now. The people in the latter two situations are probably going to be pretty pissed.

How important is it to have a replacement for Obamacare prior to repeal?

Should the repeal of Obamacare be delayed until we see what the new program would be? Or, should we proceed full-speed ahead?

If you want to get rid of it at this point, you must have a proper, intelligent, and functional replacement ready to take its place at the time of repeal.

We are already past the point of no return.

What needs to happen, is finding a way to streamline the costs of medical care, while finding ways to make pharmaceuticals less expensive without killing the research at the same time.

That is one way to cut back on the cost of health care, just don't allow people who don't have jobs that provide health insurance and can't afford to lay out a thousand bucks a month access to medical care.

It would save money on Social Security as well.

Perhaps we could start by getting rid of those incessant pill ads on TV.

"Thisstuff can cause sudden death, baldness, and deciduous dick syndrome, but shouldn't you ask your doctor" all the while showing people having a great time being outdoors and active.

Very important.

But, imo, all it should be is the government gives healthcare to all who need it and do not have any.

Leave the rest to themselves.

This is what Obamacare should have been in the first place - not the bloated whale that it turned out to be.

Damn the torpedoes!! Full speed ahead!

The sooner we ****can that Obamacare crap, the sooner people can get back to controlling their own lives.

Yes! YES!!!! I would love Republicans to go in there screaming naked, with all guns blazing, and gut Obamacare. It will be political gold!!!! Do it guys, do it!

Yes. The only way to stop rising healthcare costs is to just stop all further pharmaceutical research, new surgical procedures, imaging modalities, etc...

Seriously.

No, no...not "gut" it. That would imply that something is left behind. I want the whole damned thing...all 2000+ pages of it...tossed in the toilet and flushed. That's what you do with turds. You don't keep bits and pieces of your poop, do you?

Then what?

Then what?

Then they can come up with legislation...smart legislation.

We need work done with a scalpel...not with a bone saw.

As far as burning, slashing, and endless mindless obstructionism of new ideas and suggestions? Why I have no doubt the GOP will do that just fine. After all, that's their specialty!

But the party of "NO" actually coming up with any useful, positive, constructive ideas? This I have got to see to believe! I won't hold my breath though.

Believe me, whatever the Republicans come up with you can be assured it won't be the usual, bloated, anti-choice, big-government kind of thing that the Democrats are famous for.

OK, I'm sorry for the snark, I couldn't resist. So, you'd like to see that they just repeal Obamacare immediately then work on a replacement? Is that right?
