Obama's pinion that making friends with Russia puts things into perspective.

For decades the Libbos have cinsidered the Soviets/Russians the good guys. NOW, when they falsely believe that Russia fixed the election and the Libbos lost their asses on an historic level, The Russians are suddenly the bad guys.

This brand new Leftist view of the Russians, after decades of apologism in favor of the Russians and their Soviet predecessors proves the lack of loyalty and credibility that the Left has.

That's how it's relevant.

So, now Trump is a "libbo" since he is making friends with Moscow. Good to know.

Whatever country you are from, do you consider Russia to be your ally or not?

No. Russia is run by Putin, Ex-KGB jackass looking to revive the glory of the USSR. **** that commie jerk.

Allies and enemies change like the weather. If it is beneficial for both to work together then usually countries become allies. If they are competing against each other then they usually become enemies. The leaders of each country can also make a big difference on how countries react with each other. People are trying to say Putin and Trump are buddies. Trump only has friends when it suites his agenda. Putin is the same way. They will work together if it is mutually beneficial. Neither one will ever trust each other that is for sure. It is not in either ones nature.

Not just no but HELL NO.

Trump's capitulation to Putin is a huge slap in the face to all the men and women who worked tirelessly throughout the 20th century to keep us safe from the Soviets. But now? Now we've got a president-elect who wants to let the Kremlin walk right on in.

No, I don't trust them.

I don't believe at this point it's our best interest to trust them.

I think Russians kind of took it personally after the Soviet Union fell and the West seemed to gloat about "winning" the Cold War and really didn't do much to help the country embrace institutions that would have helped it avoid becoming a country run by an oligarchic mafia. While I don't think we should trust them (as evidenced by their incessant cyber attacks upon us) and need to put up a strong front and counter them when necessary, we would be better off engaging them and trying to seek common ground, because, frankly, on some things we need them (such as when we wanted to strengthen sanctions against the Iranians). I don't think anyone wants to go back to the days of the Cold War. I know I don't.

No, I do not trust Putin, but I have several Slavic friends - one of whom I will not name who lives in Montenegro and is a fan of Russia as a people. I do not think Putin has his country's best interests at heart, but nor do I think he is stupid enough to risk an all-out war with the United States of America. While Russia is a powerhouse, it is only a regional power and possesses an economy roughly the size of Mexico, the Russian Federation is far too drained and weak of a country to even entertain the possibility of war with the United States of America. With regard to stars, the United States may as well be a Red Hypergiant and Russia a star slightly below that of the density and solar output of our own, and it is getting smaller and smaller every month.

October economic data show Russian economy still slumping, and Putin will be able to do absolutely nothing about it.

The era of Russian geopolitical prowess will fade with a whimper.

The liberals hate Putin, but loved Castro?

The same Castro who murdered thousands, placed a country in continued poverty, imprisoned political opponents, sunk a ship full of refugees, beat women in the streets, and tried to aim Soviet missiles at America.

a state formally cooperating with another for a military or other purpose, typically by treaty.

We do have a treatey with Russia. (1987 treaty on Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces)

In God we trust, all others we monitor.

Russia is an "ally" of convenience, and to a lesser extent, necessity. Note the quotes around 'ally'. In reality, no, they are not a true ally and should not be trusted.

The Russian people are certainly not our enemy, but the Russian state is not our friend.

I voted yes, as it is time to forget the BS judgements of the past, (but not my Ally personally).

My thinking is that Russia could be our Ally, IF Mr. Trump negotiated properly....at least in the Economic sense anyay.

keep our distance?

this has been my preference. i'd rather that we focus on building our own country. unfortunately, neither of the two parties agree with me on that one.

Time to forgive and forget or keep our distance?

From the time most of us from the US were born, it's been presented that Russia is not our friend. Recently the tables seem to be turning for a more friendlier stance in certain circles.

Whatever country you are from, do you consider Russia to be your ally or not?
Russia isn't an ally but that doesn't mean we can't work with them. Arbitrarily calling them our enemy based on nothing other than because that's the way it's been for a long time is stupid.

No country is my ally...including my home country.

I think the Russia/US pissing match is stupid and needs to end.

That's just your fact-free Alt-Reality.

For the past 7 years and a few months, the Libbos have suggested that Putin hung the moon.

Perhaps you ask Santa for some facts for Xmas?

Forgiveness is for our enemies, but Russia has yet to earn it. As long as Putin continues to bully other nations, he is continuing to transgress and therefore taking forgiveness off the table, himself.

He's an insecure, authoritarian man-child, so he's got a lot in common with our president-elect, but i don't see how that means we should become allies.

When Russia stops invading foreign nations to install it's ever-desired "buffer zone" and/or undermining Western liberal democracies, I will think about it.

That's just your fact-free Alt-Reality.

Liberals were previously stooges for Putin until he invaded yet another country. Soon a plurality of American conservatives will be Putin's bitches.

I grew up in a world when the cold war was history, the Russia of old is not the same Russia that exists today. However, they are ruled by a crazed mad-man who seeks only personal power and fortune. The people are treated like serfs, and they are in no way our ally.

I have a better idea: how about you show us all the times Obama actually stood up to Putin; other, "uhh...cut it out!". Whatcha say?
