There will be no wall.

After all that tough talk and grandiose promises... you mean he won't follow through??? But, but, but... what will his rabid sheeple think? Think they're going to be okay with that???

Now that Trump has won, will he carry through with his promise to build a wall along the southern borders?

Ironically the only people in America capable of working hard enough to complete such a monumental task are Mexicans.

And we invited the legals ones to do so.

So, He is a Liar, not news to many of us.

Can you say President Trump or are you one of those spoiled radical brats who are protesting because they didn't get their way in the election? What isn't news to most of us were Hillary's results that defied her rhetoric. It is going to be a long four years for people like you

Yes it is long to be a long four years for people like me, people that refused to accept either of he two unacceptable, I cannot care less about Hillary, she is past history now. No, I will not refer to trump and President because for one he is not President yet and for two he as not earned my respect and he has a long way to go there. By spoiled brats, you mean like the brats I have been listening to four over 20 years whining about the Clintons and Obama and often twisted his name in childish ways and almost never referring to him as President Obama, kinda like those, Conservative. So, I will do as I please and if pleases me to not acknowledge his title I will do so.

You think way too much of yourself as this is a country that is a Representative Democracy and where you have freedom until you infringe on others. This is a Capitalistic economy based upon the opportunity to create personal wealth and to create opportunities to be whatever you want to be. Unfortunately results matter and Obama generated results as did Hillary that you want to ignore. Clinton worked with the Congress whereas Obama worked around the Congress through executive order. Not sure who your candidate was but doubt anyone would meet your requirements in this country. I live in TX too and it is the model other states should develop.

For those who wonder where the money is going to come from to build the wall, this interview with Rep. Louie Gohmert will answer some of your questions.

The wall WILL be built.

Pretty vague answers. So there's billions of dollars just lying around waiting to be spent eh?

That's what he said.

It's not so hard to believe, is it? I mean, I heard Hillary "lost" billions...the Pentagon "lost" billions. But he is talking about money already appropriated.

Of course it isn't going to get built.

I don't know if he knew that or not when he was first talking about it, but by now he knows. The farthest it will go will be a meant-to-die proposal before Congress and that'll be that.

If we're going to spend $25 billion worth of taxpayer, which I have no problem with, there's a lot of infrastructure that money could be well-spent on.

But an enormous border wall? It's not going to happen.

Will those who voted for him hold him accountable for it? Well, I don't really care if they do or don't because the wall isn't going to be built anyway.

So he will give it the required lip service and that will be another lie his fan club will ignore.
Thankfully they have some experience at this ignoring of the truth thing, because they will get a whole lot more practice once he is sworn in.

Exactly. There have already been mentions of "It won't be his fault" in this thread. But I don't want them to hold him accountable for all the crazy stuff he promised anyway.

I don't like Trump and I fear for the next few years and its aftermath. But I do hope he does well. We all have to live in this country and like him or not, our well being will be affected by what Trump does. And if his most ardent supporters don't hold him accountable, it'll be better for all of us.

Think you typed that last sentence incorrectly.

I hope he is what they claim and cures all our ills, don't mind me, but I am waaaay skeptical that he is anything he claimed. Know a BS artist when I see em.

What I meant to say was that if he doesn't try to build The Wall (among other things), and if his supporters don't push him to do it, it'll be a good thing. No?

No one with any sense wants our money and resources wasted on such an idiotic project. We don't even want a token construction crew with a backhoe and a cement truck heading down that way for appearances. So if the whole thing just kind of gets forgotten about/ignored, all the better.

But He Promised, don't want to disappoint the minions.

You are preaching to the choir and his bots are asleep in the pews. No it will not be ignored, by the right or left, time for trump to cash the check his mouth wrote.

I'm still grappling with the whole, "Yeah, that's what he said, but here's what he really meant" thing. I'm not too proud to say it all flew over my head. So what I'm hoping that The Wall thing was just this: a strong symbol for a real problem. And illegal immigration is a real problem.

I grew up in the lath and plaster trade. My dad put me and brother to work when we were kids so that we'd know the value of a real day's work (didn't work out the way he planned; long story). But back then, in the early 1980s, construction workers on both union and non-union job sites were Americans. There were a few illegals here and there, but they weren't journeymen. Construction used to be a respectable field here in California where, if you didn't want to go to college, then, if you were industrious enough, you could walk on to a job site and ask for a job, and probably get one.

It really did used to be that a journeyman who was working on a tract of homes might be able to buy one of those houses.

Now?

That's a fantasy. And it's because illegals come up and learn one part of a trade. Where one or two lathers used to be assigned to a house, both of whom knew how to lath the entire thing, now there's 5 or 6 guys from Mexico on each house who each know how to do one thing. And they're paid by a sub-sub contractor who's more of a labor broker than anything else. He finds the guys, pays them 50-70 bucks a day, and that's that. Each house gets done for about $100 cheaper that way (depending on the size of the house and how intricate it is).

All these workers live together, 5, 6, 7, + to an apartment. They each chip in for food, rent, and utilities, and sometime around November they head back home for 4-6-8 weeks and spend all the money they made here.

It infuriates me when I hear people say that they do the jobs Americans won't do. That's a lie. Americans used to do these jobs and these jobs used to pay a solid wage. And these are jobs that can't get shipped out of the country.

I have to admit that if Trump could bring those jobs back to Americans, I would be delighted. But that would take bringing down the hammer on the businesses that hire them. And no one seems to have the stomach for it.

There is a simple answer to the problem you described, arrest those that hire illegals, first time fines, second time jail time and more fines, third time Prison and business closed. You would be surprised how that would impact the flow of illegals and no wall that we cannot afford would be needed. I am sure that trump is going to go after business owners, right..........?

While I have no doubts they could find the money, Im just wondering how much of it would be carried over to the taxpayer. In the end, someone will have to pay for it.

Well, in the end, we know who will pay for it: Mexico.

Foreign aid to Mexico is about 500+ million a year. The great wall is estimated to cost about 25 billion or more. Thats not even close.

That is a start and sends the right message. Look, the problem exists, what is your solution? we are not talking the Great Wall of China but rather walls in different parts of this country in the populated area, a combination of physical and electronic walls

Well Trump said he wanted to make a 50 foot wall of concrete so thats his words. If we just use up the aid money, that will take around 50 years to pay it off and thats not even taking the interest into account.

As for me, a wall is pointless and will not stop illegals anyway since most of them arrive by air and through border crossings legally- they just overstay their visas. Drug shipments from the cartels mostly come in through container ships so a wall is pointless for that too. The best way is to reform the immigration process- our current system is a mess and needs a serious overhaul. Dealing with the cartels is simple: legalize drugs.

You are thinking a 50 foot high wall from TX to California and that never was the intent. Build the wall in parts of South TX, South NM, Southern Arizona, and expand the wall in California. The Immigration system in this country is a nightmare and the left has no solutions, this is a solution like it or not
