I would say he will announce Immediately preceding or after Inauguration.

It dwindles over time.
More distance makes it look less like the reason.
A kind Prez might agree to this.

Oh... I think I misunderstood. I tried erasing mine just now, and now I have a rash and had to throw away a perfectly good pencil.
 
I would not give him another term, but a year or so to clean up the mess in his agency seems fair.

Why would Mr. Comey resign?

Liberals and Democrats weren't nearly so vindictive and dismissive towards Mr. Comey when he displayed the same type of political indifference and independence when serving during the GW Bush years.

I'd think the American people would be pleased to have such a man serving in such an important role even if he occasionally tweaks your political favourites.
 
I expect that as a result of the politicizing and general mismanagement of the FBI that it suffers mass abandonment by its employees, to include the Director.

I don't know that many agents will leave unless it's to go to other law enforcement agencies. Would you give up $115 grand a year for a cush office job with great benefits, a takehome car with free gas, and 6 weeks paid vacation?

Many agents are attorneys and accountants, so I suppose they could go find something as good in the real world if they were disgusted enough.

Because you cant walk in to the job everyday and get your soul crushed because a once great institution that you put your heart into and made a lot of personal scarifies for has been ruined in apparently record time by the elite....... even the great FBI could not hold the forces of the DC ELITE EVIL at bay we now know......get that stench rubbed in your(F) face everyday.

Bureaucrats shouldn't be investigating bureaucrats and executive branch politicians anyhow. The Congress needs to appoint a special prosecutor and let him/her select his own civilian investigation team. It stands to reason that the Director of the FBI doesn't want to cross the next likely president about to take office.

I said 6 months to a year. He'll stay on while the new POTUS transitions is, then will submit his resignation to be effective 90 days later.
