These days? It's possible. But that only shows how far the GOP has drifted. I solidly supported Romney for President and think he would have been a fantastic executive.

I made no mention of "GOP". I'm not a party member, either.

No...I was speaking of being conservative and liberal, which is what you spoke of in that other post.

Whatever has happened to the GOP has had no effect on my lean. Are you saying you were something else before the GOP "drifted"?

Less than 20 days left and this isn't about who you WANT to win its about who you THINK will win

Trump or Hillary? who is going to win the election and make your map.
I will keep your conclusion, but give Trump Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Nevada.

Clinton will win easily - 330 to 360 electoral votes and probably a popular vote margin north of 5 million.

Yup. It's one of the reasons I've been saying that the GOP looks better for 2018 and possibly 2020 - she's not winning with a mandate, but she probably will try to overreach, helping to fuel a backlash wave election.

Assuming, of course, that Democrats aren't successful in hanging Trump around Republican's necks with rising Asian and Hispanic populaces they way they did Southern Strategy with African Americans. If Democrats are able to paint Trump as a legitimate part of the GOP for years to come, then we may be truly in a tough spot.

If 2018 is bad enough, she may even try to triangulate with entitlement reform - though I think it net unlikely, its' not outside the realm of plausibility.

The GOP would be smarter to hit her on things that the populace cares about. General points about her dishonesty, etc., will continue to have salience, but impeachment would simply make her a sympathetic figure.

Yes, I know - she's a felon. Problem: The American People' Don't Care. :(

I thought - you know, you actually had to be convicted in a court of law of a felony to be a felon. Hard to do that, since she's never been indicted. Of course if the orange-faced Fascist gets elected, we won't have to bother with indictments and trials. They'll just take her out and shoot her.

Yup and yup. Rubio burned agood amount of goodwill with the ideological conservatives, and is running now promising not to run for POTUS in 2020.

I think if Rubio had repudiated Trump and stood firm, he could have positioned himself as front runner in 2020. Now he is going to have to run with the taint of having backed Trump. Also he should have pulled out before the Florida primary. Losing to Trump in Florida will also continue to stigmatize him.

I hope the GOP comes to their senses and solves the inner turmoil in their party. As a liberal, I would love to see the destruction of the Republican Party. However, as an American who believes in our political system, I recognize the importance of having a vibrant two party system.

Of course she's never been indicted. She has friends in high places.

Now...if she WERE indicted I think most people would predict that she WOULD be convicted.

So yeah...having an opinion that she is a felon is quite reasonable.

But don't worry. Trump will give her a fair trial, she'll be convicted...and unlike us little people, she won't get more than a slap on the wrist. But that's okay by me. She'll also fade away and be forgotten in the fog of history.

I am forced to concur with both of those points. The way played Achilles in his tent after dropping out was additionally disappointing.

I have a feeling it's coming your way as well. Democrats are going to be pushed hard left after 2020.

Are there any precedents for an increasingly ideologically divided populace, though?

Clinton will win, and nobody can plausibly argue with that.

You have an incredibly close electoral count to make this statement.

I'm not sure if the Democrats will be pushed hard left or not. I don't think those of us on the hard left have enough sway with the party....but who knows.

I did hear an interesting theory the other night. Essentially the argument was talking about the fracture of the GOP into two groups....a hard right/tea party type group with elements of the Donald Trump vein...and a more moderate/fiscally conservative GOP. The argument was "Well if that happens, the GOP will never win another Presidency". However, the thought was...maybe yes/maybe no. Because it could possibly cause a fracture in the Dems. You might have a hard left/Bernie Sanders type movement saying, if we splinter off, we might be able to win in a 4-way race. It could lead to a 4 party system. I'm not sure that it will ever happen....but its an interesting theory...and speaks to the "increasingly ideologically divided populace.

I don't need a map.

Hillary wins in 2 1/2 weeks, and for better or worse, people need to get used to the idea.

I am taking my fishing skiff over to my favorite "Striper" spots on the eastern shore and camp out for a few days during Nov.7-10 to avoid the election hysterics.

I am making similar plans. Good luck on the Striper's. Love fishing for those bad boys. I limited out on Speckled Sea Trout Friday, Saturday and Sunday, (weekend before last,) near Arapika, FL. Can't ever have too many fish filet's in the freezer.

Ryan doesn't have any sex scandal - he's probably one of the few politicians I would feel reasonably certain betting on them being a truly decent person (he's spent the last 3 years going into inner cities and poverty programs, for example). His problem at current is that Trump, desperate to deflect blame for himself for his upcoming shellacking, has decided to start attacking Ryan, and encouraging his legions of followers to do the same.

I'm not sure if Ryan can recover from all that.
A lot of people seem to be unhappy about him.
Going forward though, they may forgive and forget.

So let me get this straight. If I can find some women who say that Bill Cosby and Bill Clinton didn't attack them.... then they are off the hook?

Come on, even you have to admit that all this was just too perfect.
Even the geography of it smells of planned, with at least 3 of the 6 being from Florida and Ohio.
Combined with the emails, where they were planning a Craigslist job ad smear.

It's incredibly suspicious.

Eh. They use the media, who will reliably run with their narratives, to do so. Republican Women "aren't really women" and Republican minorities "aren't really minorities"

Cruz wasn't my choice for a variety of reasons. Rubio, however, did and does. Unfortunately, Rubio made bad strategic decisions in the campaign, and failed organizationally.

Agreed.
I'm not sure how he's doing in Florida, last I heard, he was getting some flack for a variety of things.

Far Right - Senator Tim Scott (R) South Carolina
Far Left - Representative Trey Gowdy (R) South Carolina
Both currently serving.

I know who Gowdy is, the picture didn't look like him though.
I like Gowdy a lot.

Never heard of Scott, will look into him.

Well I despise most of his policies. I'm a proponent of free trade (I like CETA/CAFTA/NAFTA/TPP/TAPP etc.), I'm a proponent of a pathway to legal status, I'm in favor of increased military spending and a robust foreign policy, I'm amenable to a stimulus, find Russia to be a serious threat, think his healthcare proposals are abysmal, support bringing refugees into the country----and I could really go on. I'm a neoliberal neoconservative.

That explains it better then.

 we'll see. But Breitbart/Trump et. al. have done massive damage to the GOP. As intended.

All this stuff was around well before it somehow got "discovered" by the mainstream media. I was able to point to multiple incidents for you, if you will recall, right after the "Grab Em" video broke, but before the other women started coming forward. We have multiple women over a lengthy period of time confirming that Donald Trump acted towards them exactly as he bragged that he did on multiple occasions. That's not suspicious - that's multiple confirming sources and a confession.

Yup. Liberals have decided that the only way to "really" be an identity that they claim is to be Liberal.

I'm not sure how he's doing in Florida, last I heard, he was getting some flack for a variety of things.

I don't think he's lost a poll recently, and the Democrat Senate Committee has pulled all funding from the state.

I know who Gowdy is, the picture didn't look like him though.
I like Gowdy a lot.

Never heard of Scott, will look into him.

If he doesn't screw it up, he has the placement, winsomeness, and access to be one of a rising generation of stars.
