Look at all the major racial incidents of the past two years. One thing you notice immediately is that all of these police killings of unarmed people of color, or assaults on innocent bystanders, have taken place in conservative run areas.

Michael Brown: Took place in Ferguson, Missouri. Missouri is a solid red state with a republican majority in it's state legislature.

Eric Garner: took place in Staten Island, the most conservative part of New York City. Staten Island is currently represented by a Republican in Congress: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Donovan_(politician) and has a Republican bourough president: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Oddo

Tamir Rice: Took place in Cleveland, under the rule of Republican governor John Kasich

Walter Scott: took place in Charleston, South Carolina. South Carolina is a red state under the control of Republican governor Nikki Haley, with two Republican senators and a Republican majority in the state Legislature

Freddie Gray and Korryn Gaines: took place in Baltimore, Maryland, under the control of Republican governor Larry Hogan

Terrence Crutcher: was shot in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in one of the most conservative cities in the country in one of the most conservative states, if not THE most conservative.

Keith Lamont Scott: was shot in Charlotte, North Carolina. North Carolina is under the control of Republican governor Pat McRory, who is infamous for his homophobia and discrimination against the LGBT community. 18 Questions, 18 Answers: The real facts behind House Bill 2 | NC Justice Center

The poll question asks why race relations are so bad almost everywhere conservatives are in charge. Personally, I believe it is due to the extreme racism of the conservative white ruling class, which encourages police violence against innocent people of color. Other contributing factors might be that most conservative states were once slave states, leaving a very bad legacy of white privelege and oppression of people of color, or conservative mismanagement of the economy, leading to general unrest and setting the stage for racial tensions between the wealthy, privileged white ruling class and the less wealthy communities that remain oppressed.

ChairmanGanapathy, please refrain from race baiting on your new account. Thank you.

What's your excuse for the historically bad relations between minorities and the LAPD?

None of the above. Many Conservative States have better race relations than many Liberal States, me thinks someone does not know what they are talking about, again.

They're also bad in left wing states. Less of a problem is still a problem.

Oh and I voted all of the above.

What a pitiful biased poll. But, it's a valid question. Of course, Los Angeles does come to mind. So does Baltimore. Detroit. Chicago. You know, all those right-wing conservative hell holes. But, wait, those places are run by Democrats, the authors of Jim Crow laws. Democrats, the party to have the last KKK member in Congress. For laughs, here's a list of KKK members. It thoughtfully includes their party affiliation.

Democrats in the cities have kept blacks in the ghettos, black kids attending non-performing union schools, unemployment high, and a future of poverty on the dole. Damn those Democrats are doing a bang up job, aren't they? And, what has having President Obama in the White House done except increase racism and division? Nothing good.

Bad information in bad information out.

A completely partisan/extremely biased poll!

Ad Hominem Argument/Attack!

Charlotte, North Carolina. Riots. Tulsa, Oklahoma, no riots. Care to guess which is conservative and which is Democrat?

:lamo This has to be the dumbest thread premise in the history of DP.

Cleveland is a Right Wing area? Really?

Agreed! I nearly spilled my tea when I saw Baltimore listed as right wing. I still can't stop laughing at the thought.

What evidence do you have that race relations are worse in right leaning states (I assume that is what you meant by conservative).

If they are worse, the most likely cause is simply people on the right actually expect people to work and in some way earn what they get. This leads them to no support free handouts to the lazy and stupid.

What conservative city? Chicago and Detroit are conservative now? Baltimore? Every ****hole city I can think of is liberal.

Usually with a whole bunch of single mothers.

Bad poll is bad.

Here here. What a stupid poll question. It makes a statement which is blatantly and demonstrably untrue, then doesn't even provide the option to disagree. Not worth anyone's time to respond. "Ain't nobody got time for that".

Does anyone in New Jersey believe that Camden, Atlantic City, Newark, and Trenton are CONSERVATIVE? They certainly are not wealthy --- the average citizen isn't anyway. Montclair, NJ is one of the wealthiest communities... Telly Sevalas once lived there.

I believe this poll is to be sarcasm. The Democratic Party instilled the Jim Crow laws. In fact, they likely invented most all the derogatory racist terms or have people forgotten that the Old South was entirely Democratic once...
