Are ALL white people racist?

Are ALL white people racist?

That's asinine, and the fact that 6 people voted yes is startling.

There's not any race that's completely racist. There's not any race that's mostly racist.

There are bigots of every race but they're a small percentage. Most people are loving and caring individuals who don't factor in the color of one's skin.

I think whatever you feel the answer to this question is, should also be your answer to the question: "Are all people racist?"

For the six people (so far) who answered 'yes' to the poll, I wonder how many of them would also answer this 'yes'?

I think all people are innately racists, as I mention in my post above. It's an impulse which we must learn to reject. It's a carry over from eons of evolutionary biology which we could well do without. For most of humanity's existence however, and well before that the ability to distinguish our kin from others and to act impulsively upon it was of critical importance in a world where competition prevailed. We do it today under the guise of nationalism.

I think our current society and politeness/correctness has created a culture where racism is hidden but still very much in existence. This election cycle has really brought it back out in the open. Hiding it or sugar coating for decades did not make it disappear or fix the racial issues in this country.

Possibly. I do not think I can relate to the conflict between African Americans and Europeans (mostly English). I am not sure being Jewish is white rather then Asian.

In Russia there was tension between Russians and Jews. Most Jews including myself left Russia. In many ways Russian society is much better then USA, but that is a different story.

Maybe. I am proud of being Jewish, but we have no more in common with white Europeans then with anyone else. Racist organizations are mostly Anti-Semitic.

There is no all.

Anyone who is more concerned for his own traditions and culture is just as at fault as anyone else. If all whites are racists then all blacks are too.

First, yea, "some" white progressives can find racism in everything. Just like "some conservatives" seem to find reverse racism and "race-hustling" in everything they see.

Second, no. I get what she's trying to say, but essentially she's saying all whites in america are racist because we don't all have the exact same experience of the typical black family and other nonsense. It's just silliness. To call someone racist though they have never at any point discriminated against anybody or thought less of anybody based on race, well that's just skull-****ing the english language. And I'm not a fan of that.

I would say that I could see an argument for the Implicit Association test being used to demonstrate a "Yes" answer, regardless of whether anyone has ever consciously put such a belief into practice.

Of course, that would mean less that "All White People Are Racist", and more "All PEOPLE Are Racist".

Many many many are. But most aren't.

In a way you could answer this question with "yes", but only under the overarching statement that everyone, everywhere, is at least very slightly racist.

However, I would say that only a small minority of humans are...active racists? Can't think of a better term.
