It's great when you're drunk though, all that grease (mmmm...).

What grease would that be? 5 guys does not fry anything in grease. Most of the rest of the burger joints do. They use peanut oil.

Went to CfA this morning for a drive-thru breakfast, and saw on the menu that they use peanut oil. I agree that makes a difference and helps the end result taste "cleaner", if that makes sense, and I can see why some would prefer them for that reason.

I will say, too, that CfA has service that is hard to beat.

True. They have been rated number one in service for the last two years or more.

Popeye's Fried Chicken. Mmmmm Mmmmmm. And the biscuits. Too much of this stuff, and you won't live past 40. Skip the sides, though. Don't care for 'em.

I learned how to make their red beans, with my own little twist and they're to die for.

If I'm up for some fast food-style food these days, I mostly stop at Sheetz.

After that, it depends on availability.
In the past year I've had food from:
Wendy's
Arby's
McDonalds
Burger King
Popeye's

And possibly some others I don't recall.
Of the 5 above, I think I prefer Arby's, except when I'm in the mood for a burger.

Culver's which is a Wisconsin based joint. It has butterburgers and custard.
I think it's grown to the point where most Midwest states, some South East states, and Texas and Arizona have locations.

Picture of a burger and fries.

They have good food and great service, and the ice cream is to die for. I live five guys best for burgers though.

in and out's high poll number makes me wonder why they stick to Arizona and California

Because they're really not that good.

The attraction is that they're exclusive locally, and people make a big deal about going on a pilgrimage to get it.

Reminds me of Coors beer in the 70s.

And, living in Hollywood, the very beating heart of the In & Out beast, I can tell that they screw up traffic more on several nights of the week more than the Hollywood Bowl. People line up for sometimes hours to go in the drive through, and that spills our onto major thoroughfares like Sunset, etc...

Crappy food and crappy side effects, although they treat their employees REALLY well.

I think their burgers are pretty good. It's their fries that piss me off. They seem to go cold right away.

I mean... It's a hamburger. Sure it's good....but so are 50% of the hamburgers in other places.

I've been a few times just to figure out what the attraction is. I don't get it.

Just wait till Californians discover Portillos.

I live in arizona and I like it better than mcdonalds

Best fast food joint?

Contradiction in terms.

All major fast food 'joints' sell food that it would eventually be dangerous for your health to eat on a daily basis.

They sell tasty, relatively inexpensive garbage...full of sodium, saturated fat, cholesterol and chemicals.

I'm off too Wendy's.

There is no best fast food joint. There is only the worst.

dairy queen i guess, but it all tastes like crap compared to real food.
