Which is the more beneficial organization for a civilized society?

Which of the following best help promote a civilized society?

  • Total voters
    20
  • Poll closed .
None of the above?

Since each organization represents a special interest, having little or nothing to do with promoting a civilized society...the answer is:

None of the above.

Nice loaded poll. I gives a pretty good insight into the workings of your mind for you to think that is a good poll with great options.

You left out "People who use rolling eyes smileys when they see a time waster like this".

Imagine the chaos without the seeing eye dogs!

Why would anyone throw Nambla in with the Seeing Eye Dog Foundation, NRA, or Greenpeace?

Quite the eclectic list of choices.

I would probably say the VFW and the Seeing Eye Dog Foundation.

The VFW, primarily from my experience, seems far more community-centric and target audience focused. They don't seem to be heavily involved in political discourse and rather simply furthering their general mission of supporting veterans in the local community. Nothing that encroaches on civility.

Similarly, the Seeing Eye Dog Foundation performs a service that does not necessitate incivility, but actively helps society by allowing some individuals to be more productive members of it.

The rest....not really. All the rest are FAR to involved in politics and as such are in no way focused towards promoting a "civilized society" but rather are looking to promote their niche interest, often in very uncivil fashion. While the core message of a variety of them (protecting the 2nd amendment, being against mistreatment of animals, being sensitive to the environment), the nature of these groups and how they pursue their means puts them outside the scope of a vote imho.

What is VFW?

Sorry, but my philosophy is that most, by far, people are basically good. People have a soul, a heart, and some have a conscience. Organizations are basically evil. They have no soul, no heart, no conscience. They exist to promote the existence and power of the organization and nothing else.

All of those organizations listed fit that philosophy.

Greenpeace, because nothing is more important than the health of ecological systems to the long term status of human societies.

Wait I thought it was MANBLA not NAMBLA?

And you forgot there is some serious money to be made by being an eco-warrior. Suckers fork over big bucks.

What is more important than the biosphere which we depend upon for our very existence? Do you have more to add other than the suggestion that science is a corrupt enterprise?

Your mansion in the eternal kingdom of heaven...and it's the same kind of pitch you get from the environmental hustlers.

The kind of answer I expect from a scientific illiterate. A mansion in heaven? What is this heaven you speak of? Why don't we get 70 virgins?
