Would you support such a law?

Is the Welfare State described a good idea for USA?

I say yes to the first three and no to the last one. On a minimum income, they should do fine if the other three things are being covered.

Thank you for agreeing to 3/4 of my points.

If you do not like the idea of Welfare State do not blame me -- the legislature of Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark had decades of experience. The Welfare Amendment would declare that every citizen has a right to

-- Housing -- at least a room in a dormitory
-- Reasonable food -- including Kosher and Halal and Greek Orthodox
-- Reasonable medical care including psychological therapy
-- Personal spending money of $300/month

Of course if someone still commits a crime they should be jailed, but in much better conditions then in modern USA.

"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Who said that?

Karl Marx
Yoko Ono
George Soros
None of the above

Sadly nothing. But in Scandinavia everyone has to pay taxes to support people with disabilities.

Yep. One of the psychological disabilities we support is technically known as 'work aversion syndrome'.

Btw it is often assumed that medical care in Sweden is free. Not so. I saw a nurse for three minutes on Friday and paid Sw.Kr. 150 - about $25.

Thank you. Definitely, 90% of people who are "lazy" are in fact disabled. In USA tens of millions of people have no help.

Your list has the Netherlands at seven and the USA not in the top ten

I agree that for most able people USA is one of the best nations. But many people have disability.

That has nothing o do with human rights violations.

As I said in another thread:

Everyone has innate human rights. Even the worst criminal in Scandinavia has a right not to be subject to barbaric punishment -- they can not amputate his hands as they do in Saudi Arabia nor can they put him in an American Supermax which is much worse.

A person who is not a criminal, whose only fault is disability has many more rights -- including the right to food, housing, and medical care. Even if he/she can not provide for him/herself, the State must provide for him/her.
