problem is it's the same argument as always - "comfort" was the excuse used to keep gays out of the military and out of public facilities, and even today, all kinds of jobs, housing, and services that don't require any amount of undress at all
should we accommodate the kind of discomfort that is nothing but prejudice?
if the discomfort being irrational is truly out of sharing a restroom with the opposite sex, i have sympathy for that. If it's just being around lgbt, obviously not. I suspect in north carolina they would ban lgbt from going anywhere public if they could, which is why they did away with employment protections for this specific group
I guess this is where the rubber hits the road. Gays, and their supporters, trans etc think their comfort trumps that of everyone else. and in some cases that should happen. Which is why I support gay marriage which should be a fundamental right and if bothers some straights to HAVE TO THINK ABOUT GAYS being married-too frigging bad. But for a big hairy dude to be able to walk into the ladies room because he claims he "feels like a woman" even if he hasn't done squat to become one and he has to be accommodated is complete and utter crap and it doesn't help the LGBT movement to push for such nonsense.
I think most of us don't have any issue with someone who has undergone the surgery and physically resembles a female to use the ladies' toilets. And as I noted, who is going to notice anyway. same with someone who is on their way to transitioning. As someone noted, unless you have an inspector, who is going to know. But this movement also allows anyone who merely claims they are the sex they obviously are not to use that restroom-that is going too far and its unreasonable
it also doesn't help your movement.
