Are hardcore Trump supporters much different than hardcore Obama supporters?

Oooo..struck a nerve there...must be a Trump supporter.

Trump supports xenophobic, misogynistic, hate-filled policies. Obama does not. You honestly are not sure which group of supporters is dumber?

Okaaaaay.

Are you saying that I am either Dem or Rep but not neither?

(Let's see if you can post a direct answer for once).

And btw, I KNOW most people are dumber then me. I have a high IQ and skipped both Grades 1 and 6.
I am no genius and many are way smarter then I am...but most are not.
Am not bragging, it's just true.

Eh, I believe that you believe you're no a Dem and maybe you've registered as something else (if that's how your primaries work) but you're clearly more in the camp of one over the other. I don't mind that but someone who posts right down the party line but claims to be above partisanship is just a personal pet peeve. I more respect the honesty of those who acknowledge their own bias (there are very few that are unbiased for real).

As far as your giant intellect, it doesn't reflect here. Not flaming (you're certainly not among the worst posters here), just truth.

Incidentally, calling people "dumber" is, indeed, a value judgment, and intended to be insulting - clearly you believe yourself better than the Trump supporters, right?

I am against $15 minimum wage, the Fed, deficit spending, Obamacare, government stimulus, infrastructure spending, gigantic welfare programs, big government and I think Obama did a lousy job as POTUS...still think I am a closet dem?

I never said it was giant, it simply is larger then most. But, again, far smaller then many.

Think man...even someone with a slightly above-average intellect is smarter then most people.

And if I sound dumb/average...good. I prefer cars that look slower then they are...if you get my meaning. Always roll under the radar.

Specifying "hardcore" for a reason, but you all decide for yourselves what that means (sure as ****, someone's going to criticize me for not defining "hardcore"). I was listening to the radio about that guy admitting (bragging?) that some significant liberties in selling the U.S. and Iran deal and my thought was that it won't make a bit of difference to die hard Obama supporters. The last time I thought that was regarding Trump supporters and I started wondering if hardcore Obama supporters are really the same types of people as hardcore Trump supporters just with different politics. I think a case could be made.

Incidently, I see a total difference with Hillary supporters. They generally seem to be more willing to acknowledge faults/mistakes.

I've seen more than a few Trump supporters acknowledge Trump's foibles/mistakes/flaws and say they don't care. But I've also seen a bunch of b.s. flung at Trump that's either not true, a stretch, or a mischaracterization. So perhaps when you see Trump supporters not acknowledging mistakes it's more of the statements about Trump not necessarily being accurate.

Well, you've judged me a Trump supporter so I'll just say that I'm as much of a Trump supporter as you are a Dem.

To say that most people dumber than you is a value judgment and is intended to be insulting, so I'm not buying this, "aw sucks...I don't think it makes me better". You clearly intended to insult Trump supporters.

And if I sound dumb/average...good. I prefer cars that look slower then they are...if you get my meaning. Always roll under the radar.

No worries then, you do blend very well.

It's a double edged sword question that cannot really be answered at this point. But in my mind they are not any different so I picked no. You will have Trump supporters and even some Republicans saying of course not. Because Obama is a Democrat and Trump is a Republican so they leave it at that. The truth is that they are pretty similar in reality. Both made unrealistic promises. Both think of themselves as the greatest thing ever (although in Obama's case I think he thinks he's the smartest President ever). Their supporters in turn both have undying love and support for these men. They both have tapped into American anger (of which I don't have a shred of). Although Obama is an introvert and Trump is an extrovert. Their supporters make it clear who they support. Obama has at least some principles in which he stands by. Trump has none that I know of and I am watching and waiting for when he screws over his voters because he has no idea what it means to be a politician. In fact, he constantly complains about the job description and others who hold it...

When it's all said and done there will still be people who support Obama as passionately as people that support Trump do. It won't matter if Trump flip flops on everything and becomes more of a liberal than Obama was. It doesn't matter if Trump loses to Hillary morseo than Romney lost to Obama. It indeed doesn't matter if Trump actually did shoot someone.

You do realize we've had a president who has spent the last 7 1/2 yrs pitting one group of Americans against another?? So yeah, over time this "conquer and divide " strategy really does work.

No. Which two groups and why are the groups allowing themselves to be pitted against each other for 7 1/2 years?

I would change that to: This election has brought out the absolute worst people.

Americans not too long ago were generally more tolerant and more well mannered. When exactly it all changed I don't know, but it damn changed. People are just plain feckin rude and intolerant. We all encounter it daily to the point that when someone is tolerant and well mannered we find it remarkable.

A quick trip outside the US Americans would find a friendlier, more tolerant and less paranoid world. - NOTE to rabid, mouth foaming nutters. Don't bother posting examples of places outside the US that are not friendly, not tolerant and very paranoid. Yes, I know some of those places exist, but generally the world beyond the US is more friendly, more tolerant and less paranoid than Fortress America. It's palpable.

I do believe that friendly and tolerant Americans exist. It is simply that they are more difficult to identify these days with all the nastiness and noise from rude, mouthy people.
I agree that this election has brought out the absolute worst people, but it's also brought out the worst in otherwise well-mannered people. Politics can be a very high stakes, stressful environment and for that reason, a lot of normal people turn into monsters during election season.

I do think that in the last decade or so people have become more angry and rude and, frankly, I understand it. There's a lot of terrible things happening in this country right now, from racial inequality to class discrimination and everything in between. I think a lot of people are also resentful of all of those social changes that have happened recently, from the legalization of same-sex marriage to increasing attention paid to transgender rights. There's also a lot of tension brewing around police brutality and Black Lives Matter as well immigration policy and the prejudice which surrounds that discussion.

I don't know if I agree with you that the world beyond US borders is that much better. I'm sure that there are specific countries that are friendlier than the United States, but every country has their own internal issues that people who don't live there day-to-day may not be privy to.

I think this is a function of people believing that there is only one right way to be and that occurs on the left just as much as the right.

...and I'm sorry...but not everything necessarily should be "tolerated", IMO. Is it right to "tolerate" animal abuse, for example?

Both fit this song:

Look into my eyes
What do you see ? The cult of personality.
I know your anger
I know your dreams

I've been everything you want to be.
I'm the cult of personality like Mussolini and Kennedy.
I'm the cult of personality
The cult of personality

The cult of personality.

Neon lights a Nobel Prize

Where the mirror speaks the reflection lies.
You don't have to follow me
Only you can st me free.

I sell the things you need to be
I'm the smiling face on your T.V. -
I'm the cult of personality.
I exploit you
Still you love me
I tell you one and one makes three.
I'm the cult of personality
Like Joseph Stalin and Gandhi.
I'm the cult of personality
The cult of personality

The cult of personality.

Neon lights a Nobel Prize

Where the mirror speaks the reflection lies.
You don't have to follow me
Only you can st me free.

You gave me fortune
You gave me fame

You gave me power in your God's name.
I'm every person you need to be
I'm the cult of personality.
I'm the cult of
I'm the cult of
I'm the cult of
I'm the cult of

I'm the cult of
I'm the cult of
I'm the cult of

I'm the cult of personality !

I think suggesting that the U.S. in not the absolute worst in every regard suggests, in Risky's world, that you are a rabid, mouth foaming nutter.

It's funny, Risky, that you speak of folks being feckin' rude and intolerant then go on to assert who might, y'know, disagree with your perception of US politics and people to be "rabid, mouth foaming nutters". Maybe more folks who lament the crudeness of American politics should lead by example (and, since I don't lament it, I can still be a complete ass ).

LOL, I don't think he's that bad. I get what he's saying though. It reminds me of times when I've been annoyed with my family and though, "You guys are the worst." Then, I look at other families and realize everybody has their crap. It's the same with countries to me. Everybody has their crap, but sometimes, in the moment, all you can see is crap right in front of you. "The grass is greener..."

I am a rabid, mouth foaming nutter though.

Is that a 'yes' or a 'no' to me being a closet Dem, iyo?

And if it is a 'no'...then maybe you should in future not put words in peoples mouths.

When they say they are neither Rep nor Dem...maybe they actually are.

And if that is a 'yes'...then your criteria for being a dem is bizarre indeed.

Celebrity-like.
Obama wasn't chosen based on his vast experience. He was chosen because he was appealing.

He appealed to several things from white guilt to black racism to Bush fatigue to the fact that he caused Chris Matthews to jizz his pants thinking about Obama winning the election!

I think this is a function of people believing that there is only one right way to be and that occurs on the left just as much as the right.

Well, no, of course some things should never be tolerated such as Budweiser and any light beer; living next door to Johnny Manziel; Madonna; Lady Gaga; lima beans; Hillary's voice; ties; tapioca; oatmeal; air travel as it is today; 10 months of feckin basketball on the telly; speed limits on open highways; nekkid pictures of Mr. Bean; AM/FM radio; women in any grocery store on Wednesdays (even my wife agrees); waking up before 9 AM; catsup based BBQ sauce; catsup on anything; hell, catsup on/in anything; clowns; men who wear feckin bow ties; Ted Cruz sex tapes.

As my first post/reply here I am going to criticize you for not defining "hard core"

So there ya go

I was going to send you nekkid pictures of Mr. Bean for Christmas. I guess I need to rethink that?

Unfortunately I am not able to list DP's rabid, mouth foaming nutters under penalty of uh, you know, penalties. We'd probably agree on most of the mouth foamers I'd list.

I feel this will be the same with Trump but possibly worse. I'm not sure one insanity that comes out of his mouth is something he actually intends to do.
And he'll probably win the Nobel Peace prize for not doing it to.
Though, personally, I do think the President has accomplished some things (not nearly enough but some), things we like or not notwithstanding. I would be interested to see, if the insanity continues and Trump takes the office, a comparison list of what was done by each of them. Side by side.

I cant get passed the thought that he is really a New York Liberal so it hurts my brain a little to think about him.

It's like Eddie Murphy once said, "I used to complain that I had no shoes until I met a man who had no penis."

Yellow.

I will not tolerate yellow....

Thanks for the thought. Please send them to Play Drive along with your Ted Cruz sex tapes.
