Should porn be banned?

Should porn be banned?

You'd have an easier time banning guns.

I don't care what others do so much in there country, I'm answering for mine, it would be pompous for me to think I should answer for others. It's a poor frame work that would have a broken foundation. Basing it on porn is very poor legislation, base it on the crime.

Again, I don't think you actually understand my perspective.

A effective ban on particular forms of porn != legislation concerned exclusively with criminalizing the porn element. When I say ban, I want legislation and enforcement that in aggregate work out to a ban, which are not necessarily bound to pornography in particular.

Further, with the question being posited to a backdrop and context of a vacuum rather than any particular country, I'm not making any assumption in this regard (and if we're talking in terms of ideals, it doesn't matter), and even if I were to do so, I'm not about to then research every related piece of legislation with regards to that country to make sure that forms of porn I have an aversion to are comprehensively forbidden, so I will instead say that a ban should be in place for them.

Oh I get it, I simply don't support it because founding laws in that way breeds poor laws that can lose their purpose of have their scope greatly expanded rather quickly. It's an illogical base that I simply wouldn't support because it's not sound.

Ban the illegal acts and make laws against those.

?

I just said I'm all about the latter, with a de facto ban arising out of legislation that addresses all the underlying activity that would constitute production, consumption and distribution of the pornography.

If porn were banned what would they do in the red states to pass the time while guarding the restrooms to keep those transgender folks out.

No need to relate it to porn. Make the crimes illegal and the rest works out.

Right; we're not actually in disagreement here.

I think the issue is that you misinterpreted my desire for de facto, comprehensive bans of specific types of pornography by means we actually agree on (i.e. legislation that effectively bans the underlying activity by addressing more general crimes) with legislation specific to that pornography.

No, porn should not be banned. And I don't consider "kiddie porn" to be "porn". An actual rape is not porn.

No porn bans are needed. Make the crimes illegal and the rest works out.

...Unbelievable.

Once again, the desire for an effective, de facto ban != calls for legislation specifically focused on instituting a de jure ban.

Believe what you want. I do not agree.

Okay. For what will be the last time because I am legitimately getting exasperated at your apparent inability to comprehend: what on earth are you disagreeing with?

Again, you do not seem to realize that we are actually in agreement on this point: whenever it is possible to draft and utilize a general law (such as those forbidding rape, statutory or otherwise) rather than a specific one to forbid problematic forms of porn (such as child pornography, snuff, etc), from production to consumption to distribution, that should be done.

Basically: are you a fascist or not?

Out of the 38 countries that ban porn, 27 (71%) are authoritarian dictatorships, and 38 (100%) are not full democracies.

Yes, absolutely.

Also access to Internet forums should be restricted to people who know what "ad hominem" means.

Let's see if you can figure out the mistake you made in your second sentence.

You can make it the last time all you want. I stated what I would support and that's that. I don't support it being based on porn. You may lash out and get frustrated all you want that's your issue to deal with. Doesn't affect me one bit.

Only porn that involves illegal acts to make it should be banned. Same for any other form of entertainment or any type of business.

I voted yes for 2 reasons.

#1 I did not want to go with the crowed, lol.

#2 Because it does not automatically make anyone a facist. That is just a really silly demonizing blanket statement that serves no purpose. Yea that is directed at you OP.

Okay, so we're in agreement then; unless of course, you're adamantly opposed to correcting loopholes/blindspots in legislation as necessary that would enable some facet of legal distribution/consumption of pornography involving illegal acts.

Nothing has changed, I don't support banning porn in anyway or referring to it in legislation. Same thing I have been saying since the beginning and why we don't agree.

Certain kinds should be, like pedo porn, sex with animals porn...other than that, no, porn should not be banned.

So, ONLY pedo porn and animal porn, everything else is ok? Wow. I'm not a big fan of Federal Government intrusion but there are some sick pups out there that society needs to regulate!

As long as everyone involved is a consenting adult human, and no one is harmed against their will, it doesn't seem reasonable to ban it.

The USA Government does not afford us the right to be harmed with our will, that is what the denial of the right to consent to BDSM is all about.

 I don't care about anything else as its consenting adults doing what they want. I find lots of things offensive but I'm not going to try and regulate it. IMO as long as everything is consensual and it doesn't violate peoples Rights I don't care what a person/s does.
