There is a difference between taking someone off a machine and killing an otherwise healthy patient.

Isn't that the problem though, that pro-lifers see it as pretty close to the same thing? The mother effectively just a life support machine not wanting to do its job?

Not in the law's eyes strictly under the outlined circumstances.
Also in the case of life support you are not forcing someone else to pretty much take a break from life in order to support that person.

Don't you think that is pretty insulting to the human race? Comparing being involved in the natural processes in a healthy state to being on a machine is not at all palatable or logical.
 
I think they're both good political organizations-- they fight to protect essential human rights on the one hand, and on the other hand they provide resources to help people to choose to exercise those rights responsibly.

The pros:

NRA - supports citizen's rights to keep and bear arms both for self-protection and as a deterrent against tyranny

Planned Parenthood - provides various forms of women's health services to include birth control and family planning counseling

The cons:

NRA - ardent supporter of 2nd Amendment rights arguably to the point of their out-right refusal to support "common sense" gun control measures

Planned Parenthood - strong supporter of abortion rights arguably to the point of wading into questionable grey areas, such as, stem cell/fetal tissue research in support of their cause/personal agenda

Both entities have pluses and minuses. I don't think one is any better or worse than the other.

I'm not the one who wants to treat pregnant women with the same amount of respect and consideration that one would give a life support machine. I agree its pretty insulting and unpalatable though.

Due to the natural processes of the species the unborn is dependent on the mother. This doesn't somehow make the woman less responsible in the grand scheme of things, but actually more so. If another life wasn't dependent on her so it can grow and develop than this would be different, but sadly for women(really since when did this become a bad thing) a growing and developing human life is dependent on her.

Both are good for America and Americans. Nationally, socially, and for individuals.
