What's Worse? Theft or Racism?

I want to know, especially from leftists, about what you see as being morally worse: theft or racism. Let me qualify, the theft I have in mind is not grand theft like stealing cars or robbing banks. I'm talking more petty theft like shoplifting or pick-pocketing. As to the racism, this is of the sort that does not lead to crime, but is only in regard to personal preference and association.

So which is worse? Theft or racism?

Racism is collectively worse on a society when allowed to the point of acceptance. Compared to stealing a sandwich or pick pocketing a DVD. As far as individual racism in a society that largely looks down upon such views, those racists are put in a position where openly expressing their views could put them at a disadvantage. That is where we are at morally across most of the USA today.

However they are both bad and should both be avoided. This thread seems like troll bait to me, I doubt you're "point" you want to make is worth a dime to begin with.

The same can be said where racism is prevalent.
And lastly- It is a bait thread. Minor theft does not cause life long memories.
 
All one has to do is look at the ugly stain that collective racism has left on our nation and continues to leave all around the world to admit that on a far more fundamental level, the two issues aren't even comparable.

Sadly your country is headed down the ****hole from riots and such due to racism.
Such a great country that prides itself on the rule of law, justice, liberty and equality, yet many cannot see the train wreck on the rails and picking up steam.

We have it in canada, every country, every ethic base does. It is how you address it.

Probably racism, which for argument's sake means institutionalized prejudice. I agree with others, that is social and economic theft.
 
What I would like to know from the OP, is what is your perceived takeaway from people, left right center or otherwise who pick racism over acts of petty theft? What's the point? What judgment and wisdom shall you impart on us?

Racism is theft of dignity.

But, not everything claimed to be racism actually is. Sometimes it's real, sometimes it's imagined. It's much harder to discern. On the other hand, physical theft is cut-and-dry. It either happened or it didn't.

Racism, in theory, is worse, as it runs deeper than simple physical theft, like octopus tentacles in a way, but the question is unanswerable as there is no way to effectively compare the effects of the two, given that one is subjective and the other objective.

In your example I would say theft is worse. A black person saying he hates white people or white person refusing to date a black person does not in any shape or form affect anyone.It might piss some people off but it still does not effect anyone. A person stealing someone's property effects the person whose property was stolen.


Now if you said Jim Crow laws as example of racism verses stealing a car or robbing a bank as an example of theft. THen I would say racism is worse. In that case Jim Crow laws effect every minority and possibly even white people who have family,significant ohers or friends that are minorities.

Not really. Unless their racist views causes them to not view other races as human then any views they have against killing someone in cold blood will stand firm. Since that level of racism is an outlier, it can not be used as the status quo.
