Americans are very free to roam the world, we need to keep it that way.

With freedom, comes danger.

Strongly discourage? Yes. Ban? No. when I am outside the US the US should have no jurisdiction over me.

Pretty sure that's not how it works.

Nice sentiment though.

I do not understand why U.S citizens are still traveling to North Korea. It is imo selfish and hurting the citizens of North Korea. What's the fascination? Is is amusing to look at the starving people? Is this some form of entertainment like watching animals in a zoo?

Every time some idiot citizens gets captured it is costing the U.S government a lot of money and time to get those clowns back. By "negotiating" we risk replenishing the North Korean government.

Playing right in the hands of Kim Jong-un. Absolutely ridiculous......

Do they not realize they can go to a work prison camp for 15+ years for a completely bogus crime?

I vote no.

But anyone getting tossed in jail are on their own.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your post, but anybody can see where you've been based on your passport's stamp.

Only a customs official at an entry point into the country can see that. As an American I can go into any country that lets me even if the US Government "banned" me from doing so.

Should the U.S. ban tourism to North Korea? Of course not. But those who go should be aware that they are on their own. No exceptions.
