Re: Would a world run by women be better?

If you see your neighbors house getting robbed while they're on vacation, you have a duty to call the police.

Why? I guess I would be a good neighbor if I did, but I don't see how that is an obligation of mine.

If you're driving, and someone else is going to crash into you and it's their fault, you have a duty to avoid the crash safely, if you can.

Yeah, but that is more about me than other people.

Yeah, but that is more about me than other people.

Look, if you don't want to recognize ANY non-legal obligations to society around you, you're free to do that. I did say that they're not compulsory. And i certainly wouldn't think they're static, different people recognize different moral imperatives.

Re: Would a world run by women be better?

No... ****ing NO! It is not racist! Only morons think it is racist.

Re: Would a world run by women be better?

I think that I did...

Bodh did you respond to the wrong thread ?

I think i'm missing something.

Not sure what the mess up was at this point.

Re: Would a world run by women be better?

The world would probably be better in some ways, and worse in others. Overall, it would be a wash.

Re: Would a world run by women be better?

yup men have to be on their macho trip but women would be on the emotional trip hmmmmmm emotional may be safer than macho

It was an interesting read - thank you for posting it. I'm not really sure I agree with the premise. I don't care about the sex of a leader. I care about the quality.

I'm a woman who has a very successful career history. I'm also a woman who would never, ever in a million years work for a woman. I like men better.

Question: would you work for yourself? Do you think you're a good boss to other women?

I don't care about the sex of a leader.

ummmmm.....:thinking

I'm also a woman who would never, ever in a million years work for a woman.

Care to explain? You don't care about the sex, but you'd never work for a female? Sounds an awful lot like you care about the sex.

And also....that's really a pathetically ignorant thing to say.

You'd "never ever" work for some of the most successful and profitable companies around today simply because the CEO is a woman?????

The CEO of my company is a woman. I am about 6 levels down from her. I'm talking about being a direct report. Sorry you think that's "pathetically ignorant".

You are the one who said "I don't care about sex" and then turned right around and said you do.
What if the CEO promoted you to a level right under her? Effectively making her your direct boss? Would you quit?

I don't care about the sex of the leader. Right from my quote. I care about the sex of my direct manager. What is it that bothers you so much about that?

The CEO isn't promoting me 5 levels. I also don't play hypotheticals.

Why do you care so much that I prefer to work for a man versus a woman?

Re: Would a world run by women be better?

Over 100 years ago this was a myth that men and women cultivated and first wave feminists beat into the ground, all the while acting with just as much malice and calculated fervor as the men.

So generally you're admitting to being a hypocrite. That's fine. Move goal posts around all you want. Make broad sweeping blanket statements that make you appear rather foolish. That's fine.

So you'd pass up financial gain, professional goals, job security, better benefits, more vacation time, and perhaps a whole host of other wonderful benefits for no other reason than you'd have to work directly under a female. That's just a wonderful code to live by.

Because you know, "never ever in a million years...."

No, generally I'm saying I'd prefer to work for a man than a woman, and I have not, in 15 years, taken a job where my direct boss is a woman.

You haven't said why this means so much to you. Are you losing sleep over my preference in a boss?

I think the world would be better if it was run by Amazon women.

So I went to amazon.com and searched for Amazon woman. UPS will drop her off on Tuesday.
