As one who has read the Qur'an (some of it in Arabic) and is reasonably familiar with the bible, I can assure you that the two are nothing alike. The bible may contain descriptions of violence, but it does not tell followers to make war, especially against an indentifiable current group of people. The Qur'an does.

Yes it does. Have you ever actually read the Hebrew Bible? It isn't the same because it isn't an evangelizing religion and is thus inwardly focused but it most certainly contains copious rules and prescriptions for the slaying of others. As a practicing Jew I find your assertion laughable.

To slay the inhabitants of a city that has become idolatrous and burn that city (Deut. 13:16-17) (affirmative).

Not to suffer any one practicing witchcraft to live (Ex. 22:17) (negative).

Not to keep alive any individual of the seven Canaanite nations (Deut. 20:16) (negative).

To exterminate the seven Canaanite nations from the land of Israel (Deut. 20:17) (affirmative).

To destroy the seed of Amalek (Deut. 25:19) (CCA77).

Not to be afraid of killing the false prophet--Deuteronomy 18:22

To destroy idols and their accessories--Deuteronomy 12:2

If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die. Deuteronomy 17

And on, and on.

this country had a president called junior moron.he declared war against muslims and claimed any country that would disagree with this desicion was their enemy.HE ALSO claimed he talked to god.millions of people are being killed in the ME .now I see he was right.many americans agree with him.and these smart people deserve to be governed by TRUMP.I hope trump becomes president.whoever becomes president the ME is already messed up ,not different for me

This was done by Al Qaeda.
Yes, it was. It's says so in the headline, and Al Qaeda is a Muslim organization.

How do you know or not know if any of these militants were from the ME. I wonder because Islamic terrorism has grown in direct correlation with American hegemony.
Is it your understanding that all Islamic terrorists are from the Middle East? In fact Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with "American hegemony" and whoever may have told you that was probably just having a laugh.

Democratic leaders come and go but the Middle East has always been a total screw-up, all indications suggest it will remain that way, and its Islamic inhabitants have never contributed anything of substance to the betterment of humankind. Quite the opposite in fact.

Muslims could learn a great deal from the Jews but they are taught their traditional hatreds rather than ever receiving a quality education.

maybe the west helps them stay ignorant by supporting either dictators or islamists

both Saddam and Mubarak were not your guys ?

Look at history. Did the 50's, 60's or 70's have anywhere near the Islamic terrorism that there is today? Islam was around then also. Are you suggesting that Muslims just decided recently to become radical on their own with no outside influences? Just because of the religion itself? Even the speeches of Bin Laden point to American imperialism.
contrary to Bush's claim that we hate freedom. If so, then let him explain to us why we don't strike for example - Sweden?
Nobody has given me these ideas. This is what any sensible person would come to. I do not excuse Islamic terrorism at all. But I do understand that the main reason behind it goes well beyond the religion itself. If Christians in the last 50 years were treated the way Muslims have been treated and their ability to fight back was of one tenth the military might of their oppressors then there would be no doubt in my mind that they would be using the same tactics.

Blaming the western democracies for this ignorance is just more ignorance. Other parts of the world have done quite well while human rights and educational issues remain ongoing in almost every Muslim dominated country.

It's the lack of a broader education that's causing these historical problems so until education and human rights takes a priority over religion then these Islamic-created international problems, and the waste of human lives and potential, will continue. You should be doing your part to encourage free education in your country rather than blaming other for your problems.

I notice that freedom of the press just ended in turkey also. Why don't the people try to do something about this? Do you also blame George Bush for eliminating press freedom?

Turkish courts, controlled by Erdogan's government, put the newspaper Zaman, one of the last remaining media critics of Erdogan, under state control. A court actually appointed administrators to run the newspaper. Editor-in-chief Sevgi Akarcesme said that this was effectively the end of media freedom in Turkey.

That decision to spread Islam throughout the world was made by the Muslim Brotherhood in 1928. Islam is being forcibly spread throughout the world in areas which have nothing to do with the United States.
Even the speeches of Bin Laden point to American imperialism.
It may not be to wise to get your history lessons from islamic terrorists.

Then it seems your mind is closed on the subject and you're content with your point of view.

That's because Wahhabist Islam, the one responsible for the majority of worldwide terrorism, only had a major resurgence in 1979 with the Afghan jihad against the invading Russians. You will note that the U.S. was a major supporter and funder of said jihad, to our eternal regret. It has been the rise of Wahhabism that has driven radical Islamic terrorism and their fear that their way of insulated fundamentalist Muslim life was in danger.

And it should be.

None of that rises to the level of the Qur'an verses that openly call for war against all non-Muslims. Also, none of it comes from the NT, which exhibits a complete change of tone. Whether you believe Christ even existed (I don't), you have to admit that he is said to have promoted peace and love, which is strikingly scarce in the OT, and completely absent in the Qur'an.

But, more important than comparing Islamic scripture to biblical verses is to compare the actions of Mohamed and the first Muslims to those of Christ and the first Christians. They couldn't be more diametrically opposed. The first Muslims made war; the first Christians were peaceful. The reason that examining the actions of the first adherents of any new creed is so important is that it serves to demonstrate in which direction it is supposed to go. Clearly peace and tolerance were not on Islam's agenda as it carved out a great empire via the sword in only it's first 100 years. That is the Islam ISIS etc. are trying to reestablish.

We can argue about why Team Islam has decided to get back in the game all we want, but nothing will change the bleeding obvious: they ARE back in the game. The one event IMO that sparked their rededication was the creation of Israel, but again, that's done and we have to deal with its considerable fallout.

Regardless of what caused the push, the common thread within all jihadist groups is their desire to carry on the "good" works of Mohamed and his followers. The push to spread Islam throughout the world has again been taken up by enough Muslims (NOT all, but enough) to be the greatest long-term threat to world peace (yes, even more than N. Korea or China). Does finger pointing in any way change that?

thats what hitler said, when we defended the jews....

I'll ignore the cowardly dodge AND the Godwin Fallacy and simply ask you why you defend Islam and attack Christianity when you are a communist... a lean that is supposed to be Godless. I will also point out that it was the Nazi's that got alligned with the Muslim's during WWII, since you seem oblivious to actual facts.

why should I? If a muslim asked you to read a bunch of passages advocating peace in the quran would you? and then ignore all the violent passages in the quran like your asking me (an atheist) to do for your bible?? Like almost all right wing christians, I doubt you know anything about islam other than hate speech.

What is strange is that this is not abortion or the death penalty where there is one side or another... this is religion where definite overlaps occur like violence. All religions contain violent people and violent messages but you only condemn Christians and not Muslims. Your blind partisan hatred of Christianity is bizarre and your deflection of anything Muslim is even more bizarre. I can only conlude that you are a Muslim, a Troll a little delusional.
