Simple question, are women already equal (for the law or otherwise) in your country and if not, what is lacking? There have already been two waves of feminism, is there a point in the current third and will/should there be a forth?

What should still be achieved if women are not yet equal and what do you consider as evidence/proof they aren't yet? Does only equality to the law matter or other equalities too and how would you like to see those equalities enforced?

Well, I'm not settling for equal, so I won't be giving up my advantage any time soon.

:D Okay, and seriously? Do you see a point in any more "fighting" or would you like to see just a few more minor points achieved (if so, which)?

Why should being gay mean that you wouldn't care whether women are treated equally? Many lesbians I know dedicate their lives to gender equality. For me as a gay man, it's pretty much a sine qua non that without gender equality there can be no LGBT equality. Y'see, you probably won't get this, but people who believe in equality believe in it for everyone. If they didn't, it wouldn't really be equality, would it? Most people involved in gender and sexuality campaigning believe in equality, and not just in furthering their own tribal interests.

No, they are a majority. What would you suggest to change that numerical advantage?

Well, I would love to respond to this post, but I don't understand it. Maybe I need more coffee. ;)

That sentence makes no grammatical sense. What are you trying to ask Maggie?

Thanks, English is not my native language. I forgot the verb "see". Anyway, I edited.

I could see that you forgot the verb 'see', I assumed. That wasn't what made it unfathomable. This is:

Do you (see?) a point in any more "fighting" or just some minor points (if so, which) or what?

1) Maggie didn't mention "fighting" for or with anyone. Why did you mention it? And why did you put it in quotation/speech marks when you are not quoting anyone?

2) 'Just some minor points' ?? What are you referring to? What 'minor points'?

3) '(if so, which) or what?' I have no idea what you are asking. I doubt Maggie does either. Can you explain?

Ah, okay, got it!

There will always be discrimination, at least until fathers become the primary care givers and women have personality transplants. But women's rights in the United States have been hard won and, for many injustices, there are roads to redress. For probably JUST as many there is no way to combat it.

The road to a woman's equality lies within her.

Women still make significantly less money than men for the same jobs, so no, there isn't gender equality anywhere.
That being said the reasons are not some kind of discrimination inherent in the system as is commonly being claimed, but are much more complicated than that, and I don't think society can create such equality by force. (Through the making of laws)

I suspected this would come up. There are still biological differences that no law is ever going to change, and perhaps women are more naturally gifted as primary care giver. Would you like to see such issues addressed (legally) or are things fine the way they are now?

So still no full equality but otherwise nothing that's worth any additional laws?

I don't believe that gender equality has been achieved anywhere yet. As long as there are major income disparities due to gender; as long as domestic violence occurs predominantly in one direction; and as long as glass ceilings and old boy networks continue to function, then the battle for gender equality hasn't been won. Some countries have achieved a lot and are well advanced down the equality road, others much less so. I don't believe that anywhere has achieved what anyone could claim to be equality.

The main reasons for the lacking of full equality between the genders in society are all deeply-rooted social reasons, that aren't going to change through the introduction of any law. Had there been a magical solution I'm sure it would have been tried by now.

That will be the case for all eternity and might be due to testosterone. Domestic violence is illegal and can be considered as addressed hence.

That's something hard to address by law (additionally) and might just take (a lot of) time.

I think laws are in place to handle some of the discrimination. Some of the discrimination is appropriate. And some will never change. No more legislation. Please.

Omen in the United States have as much or more opportunity than in any other country in the world. Time can do nothing except close the gap . . . At least for the women it matters to.

Major points such as the right to vote have already been achieved, in my country abortion is legal and will stay that way, it is forbidden to discriminate by gender when it concerns wages and a whole lot of other stuff. It seems to me that whatever remains, is some minor stuff that might not even be possible to resolve through legal action.

Women aren't equal in any country. They can have children and don't compete with men in sports.

Not exactly what I meant. I meant more kind of legally and if there are still societal issues that are problematic, whether additional laws are required. I don't think biological differences can (or should, see option 3) be addressed.

For a frame of reference, may I ask whicj is your country?

You said, 'are women already equal (for the law or otherwise),' so just because something has been addressed by law does not mean that it has been solved. Saying that domestic violence is illegal does not mean that equality has been achieved.
