It's not. The actual wage gap appears to be about 5-7% in the US and 10% in the UK. "Half as much" is an extra ordinary claim which requires extra ordinary evidence, none of which you have provided.

In the United States, the average female's earnings have been cited as 78% of those of an average male.[6] However, multiple studies from OECD, AAUW and the US Department of Labor have found that pay rates between males and females varied by 5-6.6% or females earned 94 cents to every dollar earned by their male counterparts.[7][8][9] In the UK the gender pay gap has continued to close and as of 2012, the gap officially dropped below 10% for full-time workers.

Not a terribly well written choice of replies in the poll, but, NO, women are NOT treated equally. They are not paid as much as men to do the same work. I've seen this all my life, and although it's not quite as widespread today as it was 30 years ago, it is still very much a reality. Oh, and I'm a male, and a staunch fiscal Conservative. I've been a manager with a staff of about 20 people who worked for me, male and female. I always worked hard to make damn sure that the women were paid, promoted, and rewarded in accordance with their performances. Not all managers do, not even in 2015....

it depends on the job sector.

why do you always hate muslims turks ?

you started it about turkey or the western countries ?

Simple question, are women already equal (for the law or otherwise) in your country and if not, what is lacking? There have already been two waves of feminism, is there a point in the current third and will/should there be a forth?

What should still be achieved if women are not yet equal and what do you consider as evidence/proof they aren't yet? Does only equality to the law matter or other equalities too and how would you like to see those equalities enforced?

The only way women can be equal to men is if they are carrying a gun and know how to use it. Otherwise, they are a sitting duck for bullying and physical violence in general.

As far as gender equality is concerned, the degree of such equality is related to the particular subculture involved. I am staunchly opposed to dogmatic multiculturalism for this very reason.

Women I happen to know are equal to men, and I think all women should enjoy that right instead of just some.

Well I studied feminism as part of my political science course last year and typically the first was the wave that wanted legal rights for women like suffrage and property rights. The second one was the beginning of radical feminism in the 1960s spurred by things like the pill and the counter-culture movement putting more emphasis on sexual identity as women and various social inequalities. The third wave, or the one we have now is radical feminism part two, it builds upon the ideas of the second wave adding support for things like rights for transgender individuals, genders stereotypes, in other words correcting more modern social inequalities.

Thanks, I'm aware of this analysis, as well as other analyses which cite a post-feminist era with feminism being largely redundant. I was questioning the OPs interpretation as I'm wondering abouut his motivation for such a general and simplistic poll, as well as his rather stupid choice of options.

Very interesting to see the classical analysis being taught in contemporary political science classes.

As for motivation, in case you haven't noticed in my signature, I used to read Jalopnik, Gawker, Jezebel and consorts. Especially Jezebel managed to piss me off. As to simplistic, I don't know which options you would have provided. Only the third option is stupid IMO, it's because I've received a request previously for a don't care option but don't really believe in that (see other polls of mine with such an option designed not to be chosen).

At least you recognize that it is indeed stupid.
Now elaborate why it is "simplistic"? What other options are there or would you have made? It is a discussion forum, you can elaborate if you wish instead of just clicking an option and voting.

Whatever validity your poll may have had you have trashed by insulting gay people with that silly third option.

I said there is nothing wrong with that. It's just to piss off the overly politically correct and the homophobes wishing to vote I don't care. And you're probably not gay, stop being offended in other people's place.

I'm not gay. I object to barely veiled homophobia wherever I see it.

I have a simple policy.

If your god hates gay people.

**** your god, it's an idiot.
That's why I'm an atheist. I laugh at adherents of the three Abrahamic religions who try to claim they adhere to their faith yet accept homosexuals. Can't do both.

I suppose you're christian?

Well the only reason I know that is 10 minutes before my final I happened to skim that chapter, thankfully because it was one of the big questions on it.

I haven't made any great study of the various religion's teachings - it is my opinion, however, that any who use their religion to support their own bigotry are not operating under the correct interpretation of their chosen supernatural entities' wishes.

as long as domestic violence occurs predominantly in one direction;

Yes. Women are more aggressive than men are.

Your list is rubbish.
The simple fact is that men and women are not equal.
