Re: How much will ISIS affect your vote in the coming primaries and/or general electi

Not very concerning. Since ISIS has managed to piss off both France and Russia enough to actually get off their asses (likely only the first of many western nations), I'd say they're pretty much ****ed. I'm more concerned about the budget than anything else.

The more money that the US Treasury prints, as long as foreign governments keep guzzling it down like cocaine, the greater the world's prosperity will be including within the USA. You don't need to worry about macro economics. Reagan did not worry about it. So why should you ???

Re: How much will ISIS affect your vote in the coming primaries and/or general electi

could you show me an example of anybody saying that? would you like us to intern muslims/arabs like the japanese? or be forced to wear yellow stars like the jews did in germany because i do see millions of republicans and a presidential candidate calling for that

Not a bad idea for a while at least.

:)

Re: How much will ISIS affect your vote in the coming primaries and/or general electi

other. i actually want to vote for a candidate who will pull out of the Middle East, but there aren't any viable candidates running on that platform.

That runs the risk of losing Iraq and Syria to Putin, creating another A-stan all over again.

Same as Stalin was able to grab Eastern Europe when he got the chance also.

How much will ISIS affect your vote in the coming Presidential primaries and/or general election?

To the extent a candidate gets a eureka moment and realizes the exclusive use of petroleum is the only way they get revenue, drilling domestic oil will only perpetuate the model that ensures a market for their oil and its high time to use American ingenuity to drastically devalue their only natural resource, I'll be a single issue voter and support that candidate.

Re: How much will ISIS affect your vote in the coming primaries and/or general electi

Isis may have no direct effect on my life, as in I'm not a high priority target so they are not likely to attack me in some way, but because of terrorism and political fear mongering politicians will use and have already used it to erode the Constitution. Such as but not limited to The US Patriot Act.

I can easily see obama, or some other petty Communist tyrant like him, declare martial law and suspend EVERYTHING.

I find it hilarious that on one side of the hyperbole spectrum there's people calling him a coward for not doing enough against terrorism, then there's people like yourself who think he'll do TOO MUCH against terrorism. You people are such a panic.

We'll keep waiting throughout his last year as president for "the big takeover" you conspiracy theorists have been whining about non-stop the past 7 years.

Because just like regular cocaine, endlessly guzzling economic cocaine is a terrible (and unsustainable) idea. Raegan knew this. He was basically playing chicken with the USSR, knowing that they would break long before we did. And if we keep the current trend going, we will too.

I don't know if Reagan knew or not that the US greenback was becoming an international currency whereas the Ruble was not.

But he was convinced that the USA needed to strengthen its military might and he thus used the military/industrial complex to stimulate the economy through massive deficit spending the likes of which had not been seen before.

That's when everybody found out that deficits are not a problem and that the Rest Of World would monetize our debt for us.

Bombing did not work in Viet Nam.

Why should it work in Syria and Iraq ??

In Vietnam, we were trying to run a bombing campaign over layers of dense jungle and over hilly, difficult terrain. I remember all that very well.

But look at Syria and Iraq! Flat, mostly featureless deserts, where nothing can be hidden -- especially not from the 21st Century weapons and surveillance technologies we have. We have "spy planes", satellites, etc., etc. There's no reason at all why we can't work a "grid" and use saturation-bombing to utterly destroy everything there, grid by grid by grid.

And, if the enemy creates a new presence, we isolate it and bomb it to destruction, too. In Vietnam, using 60's technology and 60's weaponry, this was very hard, but today it should be relatively easy. Or, to put it another way, if eliminating a bunch of morons roaming around in plain view on the ground is beyond the ability of our fabulous 21st Century technologies, then we've REALLY got far worse trouble ahead than any of us imagines....

For me it will have a small added emphasis in my ultimate choice, but it's not going to be a litmus test, or anything like that. I think it's something that needs to be factored in. Probably the bigger concern, albeit slightly related, is how the next President will relate to the other world leaders that will have to be worked with.

....not to mention that we were in Viet nam without a clear strategy and were caught in what amounted to other people's civil war. It wasn't exactly like the Vietnamese were all over the world trying to kill people in their countries.

The need to compare apples to oranges just runs strong in some people, I guess. Who knows why they do this, but I have ceased to even wonder.

Rats can still hide anywhere.

They can hide in the rubble of bombed out urban areas.

They can hide in caves.

They can hide in rat holes dug into the earth. WW1 proved this better than anything. They can hide 50 feet deep underground where bombs can't reach.

Air power can't do it.

You need mechanized infantry with tanks and arty -- boots on the ground.

In Vietnam, all of the combatants were in Southeast Asia, and none of them were waging war for religious reasons or trying to force other people to convert to a different religion. This Muslim menace is found in every continent (except Antarctica) and in both hemispheres.

I'm not against boots on the ground -- AFTER we have carpet-bombed the living **** out every asset, every stronghold, and every materiel storage location we can find that they are likely to be in or to use. I would prefer to use lethal gas on their rat-holes, but I think that strafing their likely positions with phosphor-napalm would barbeque most of them. My compliments to you... you sound like someone who knows what the hell he's talking about. In that desert terrain our tanks and arty would be devastating! I'd like to see a bunch of these raghead bastards in black pajamas, riding around in Toyota pickups and waving their swords at 105mm's trained on their pos! I'd pay money to watch videos of that!

:

You would think people would be able to figure that out, wouldn't you?

In a world where all that counts is saying the exact same thing as other people are saying, though, nobody ever gets around to thinking enough to figure anything out on their own at all.

Ok BUT if you are going to bomb the xxxx out of them then why not just use one missile and nuke them instead ??

Not that Bush would have studied history...

I agree with this. I've long said that nobody wins in Afghanistan. But at the same time, given the circumstances, I'm not sure we had a choice.

I know this is jaded as hell, but we have been fighting these people every year I've been alive. When I was a kid it was Palestinians blowing up airplanes, then it was Al Qaeda blowing up our buildings and ships. Now it's ISIS. To me, the difference is that the latest crew likes wearing black, which seems kind of silly in a region that sees temperature highs of 125 in the summer, but I'm not a crazy religious fanatic, so what do I know.

I'll let these people affect my life in the same way I've always let them.

Do you know what nuclear bombs actually do?

I can't discount that.

A candidates recognition of and proposed response to reality is always a factor for my vote.

Logistics, and politics! The enemy is distributed throughout the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Plus, it would be using a sledgehammer to kill roaches. No, at most, I would use theromobaric ordnance on their larger, hardened sites, and other munitions for their rag-tag ground forces. And don't forget the, uh, "effectiveness" of phosphor-napalm bombs.

But we don't need nukes. Nope. Just conventionally bomb the **** out of them, and then follow up with mop-up on the ground. Level every mosque that supported ISIS and let the rest of the Islamo-scum know that there's plenty more where that came from. Ha! Unless the Russians do it, it'll never happen.... Hey, in a just a few more weeks, our own wonderous "President Red Line" will be off to Hawaii for another sumptuous, long golf vacation during "the holidays". Too funny!

Re: How much will ISIS affect your vote in the coming primaries and/or general electi

ISIS is not something I take into account when voting. I vote to make the economy work for more people, that is our biggest challenge. Fear mongering only leads to rash, stupid decisions.

Bombing mosques is not a good idea due to collateral damage.
