ISIS or Daesh: what is the better term for the group behind the paris attack?

Is it possible to even wipe them out? Dunno. We can't use the nuke option. IMO, anyway, the only realistic option we have available is the same one Reagan used in Latin America during the 1980s.

We can't really afford another dedicated ground war with everything popping off in the rest of the world like it is at the moment, so we're going to have to settle for letting the locals do the heavy lifting for us. They simply need to do so with generous Western support and supervision, of the both overt and covert variety.

The only thing that complicates things in this regard is the uncertainty involved in finding people to fight for us who won't stab us in the back the first chance they get, and the propensity of groups like ISIS to attack Western heartlands. Neither factor was of particular concern while fighting Communists in the 1980s.

While it certainly rolls off the tongue better, I'm utterly incapable of thinking of anything but the Egyptian goddess Isis every time I hear that word.

Why would it not catch on? Just start using Daesh.

ISIL is what I use ( Islamic State of Iraq and Levant), but I'll use daesh when I think about it.

I understand why they use the term Daesh.But at the same time it looks like an attempt to mask what they are. Kind of like when pro-illegals call illegal aliens "undocumented immigrants" or just "immigrant" to hide the fact these people are here illegally in the country.

Referring to the terrorist organization as a 'state' gives them legitimacy. Calling them Islamists also gives them legitimacy as a religion. They are neither and should be called what they really are, terrorists and murderers...aka...S.C.U.M.
