If you knew a pedophile?

Pedophile is attraction, not acting upon said attraction. Or something like that.
 
If I knew someone and they turned out to be a pedophile, but did not harm a child, I would do absolutely nothing about it.

This has kind of come up in my life. One of my jobs is contracting for an organization (charitable with an amount of government funding) that intends to make it possible for seniors to continue to live in their homes instead of going into assisted care housing. I do house maintenance, renovations, yard work, that kinda thing. Thing is, someone said to my wife of one of my clients that their daughter doesn't visit them anymore because he had molested his grand-daughter.
I worried about it for awhile and decided to ignore what I've been told. It's rumours, at this point, and the guy is nearly 70.

I'd be extra cautious around that person in the future and make sure my daughters were never around them alone, but otherwise leave them be.

hard question. like justice or loyalty..but I would do my best to prevent a potential disaster

Discovered how? If he or she told me and also told me that they had never touched a kid I will say "OK that is good, if I ever think you did touch a specific kid then I will tell the state what you just told me, but otherwise I dont care."

If I found out some other way I would be more likely to talk to the state now, but that all depends upon what the situation is.

Note: I have not looked at this thread as is my habit. I will now go read at least some of it, if it is good all of it.

I say great, the more info the better. But to get it we need to treat them more like europe does. I am very angry about what is happening in Europe now but they do a lot of things better than we do. Anything related to sex tends to be on the list, though what the French just did to prostitution I hate, very hostile towards men.

For those who dont know much of Western Europe (good europe) takes the approach that pedeophils are often hurting, often wish they were not having them, and are often struggling with the urges. Experts can help with that, and we want to get the two together. So long as the citizen with urges does not commit a sex crime the state want to help them, and does not want them subject to discrimination. And they have programs, though I am not at this moment prepared to talk about how effective they are.

I am too, I admire from afar. I dont want to have sex with them because it is a criminal act and because I doubt the sex would be any good. For what I like the 40's are prime time, young things tend to be more trouble than they are worth in bed.
 
They're not a pedophile until they act on the impulse. Now personally, I have no interest in being around anyone who is interested in molesting kids, but just thinking about it isn't illegal, nor actionable. I'd recommend they sought professional help though.

As of the last DSM, which was released 2013

the American Psychiatric Association (APA) drew a very distinct line between pedophilia and pedophilic disorder. Pedophilia refers to a sexual orientation or profession of sexual preference devoid of consummation, whereas pedophilic disorder is defined as a compulsion and is used in reference to individuals who act on their sexuality.

Nothing, what can be done? If they harmed no one, it doesn't mean they will or that there is anything one can do other than be aware of the situation.
