Bernie Sanders Isn't Coming For You...

1. Some of us actually work hard to try to get there and aren't jealous of those who are.

2. Going bankrupt on your own two feet as opposed to going bankrupt on whose feet?

I didn't know the Koch Brothers were behind the bank bailouts. Link?

1. It doesn't matter how hard you work, the system is set up against you.

2. You missed the point. The point is that people seemed to have missed the "coincidence" that this whole fend for yourself resurgence came by way of piggyback on the biggest tax payer funded bailout in history.

3. Don't be thick Tres. We are generally amicable with one another. You probably didn't know that the Koch brother's got their silver spoons from Dada Koch making his fortune off Stalin and the suffering of the Russian people either... So much for what you didn't know, eh? Also, the Koch's love their Obamacare subsidies. So much for that "rugged individualism" as well, eh? Or their millions to the US Chamber of Commerce who supported unapologetically the Ex/Im Bank, the finance, auto, and airline bailouts, and ethanol subsidies, eh?

Of top income earners? Yup. I will probably end up a multi-millionaire (nominally, at least), however. Are you stating that I should be happy with signing on to foolish policies so long as they hurt others worse?

Well that seems like a question with a lot of presumptions. I disagree with the kleptocracy and crony capitalism that was the bailouts. What I object to, however, is the Cronyism. What leftists object to is the Capitalism. Nor do I really see where this is particularly unique to Bernie. I personally didn't go bankrupt because I manage through the ancient dark magic of "budgeting" to achieve the power-status of "being able to live on less than I make, even if that means I don't get to use my house like a piggy bank to buy myself consumer goods".

If you're supporting the current status quo, that is precisely what you're supporting. A system which works against you becoming just that.

Well, this seems like an answer with a lot of conflicting views. American Capitalism is cronyism and a kleptocracy. I don't recall giving Bernie an exclusive. That's just magical, man, really... If you really believe what you're alluding to, you're too far past the break to get you back to shore... :sinking: Good luck with all that...

No it's not. The system is set up incredibly in my favor. As a standard member of my society, I have more opportunity and enablement than any other point in time in human history. I have three young children, making this an expensive time for me - but if I never increase my savings from this year for the rest of my life, I will still retire a multimillionaire. I didn't inherit a business or a bunch of money. My father was a small-town Methodist minister. It is easier for the typical individual to live a materially better life now than ever before.

On the contrary, the system is set up pretty well for me.

It is increasingly so - but that is a trend that only increases when you increase government regulatory power and revenues. You turn government into the best investment, and so that is where moneyed interests spend their cash.

:) Thanks. I'm doing pretty well on track.

The system isn't set up against me. On the contrary, it favors me and my husband. We're both smart, hardworking, and willing to sacrifice for a great end result.

And since the Koch Brothers aren't behind the bank bailouts, and I'm not sure what bankruptcy has to do with this, what is the point? Stalin, Russians, Ex/Im....you're all over the place. I thought this was about Bernie Sanders?

and if only that were enough...

Well, that's it now dear, you've made being thick a virtue, and I can't help you...

Bernie is too far to the left for me. However, he would be pretty much mainstream with most of the developed world. I also don't think he is very electable in a general election assuming he won the nomination. However, that is all contingent on who the Republicans run. If they ran someone like Kasich or even Rubio, I am all but certain that Bernie would lose. However, if they are dumb enough to nominate Ted Cruz, Trump, or Carson (particularly Carson or Cruz), then they would almost certainly be handing the election to the actual socialist, Bernie Sanders.

You doubt that my husband and I are smart and hardworking and willing to sacrifice? Nice rude post. Keep feeling victimized because you can't get ahead. See ya.

Cruz and Carson have zero chance at the nomination. Cruz has less of a chance than Carson, but Carson will wither soon. Trump, who knows? I think if it's Trump Bernie would beat him too.

Kasich and Rubio are still my top choices.

I really see kasich more as a VP choice than actually winning. I would consider, at this very very early date, that Rubio has the best chance to get the nomination. Establishment, but not a Bush, charisma, and able to appeal to social conservatives. Big question is how his stance on immigration will affect him.

Heh, I began to respond in a similar peacock fashion...

I erased that.

This sums up my position.

Changing the status quo does precisely that.

(and I say this with the certainty that my schwartz is bigger than yours... :darthgunny)

Did I say that?

:lamo

Read what you just wrote.

Who is playing the victim?

Like I told the other one...

Good lord...

If there is any Press coverage on Bernie Sanders it usually is dismissive, with a quip of "He wants to take 90% of your income, He hates your success. He's gonna steal your baby in the night " or some other horse **** like that.

My question is actually in two parts.

1. Do you realize that you have about a 99% chance of never becoming the 1%?

2. Do you realize the media is duping you much like the Koch Brothers-backed push of the Tea Party movement and their insistence of going bankrupt on your own two feet after having given billions upon billions of bailout money to corporations and banks?
Personally my main problem with sanders is that...

He seems too good to be true.

Yeah, I hear ya.

While I loathe him on social issues, VT has the second best gun laws in the country and he's shown himself to be not unreasonable in this regard.

UHC, expansion of SS, Free Adult Public Ed, pre-K childcare/development are all issues where he and I share common ground.

Looks like probably no. Bernie Sanders on the Issues

There is a bunch more, and over 50 % does leave the possibility in that it could be as high as 90 %. I hate how vague politici8ans tend to be, but it is unlikely to change...

It'll never be increased to 90%.

I think that the media scews their reporting to reflect their own polls. Thus sanders is losing attention points. So, yes, we're being duped the way we are to buy a certain toilet paper: ever notice that it has to be soft, so that we can take it?

It's really just down to personal choice for personal reasons. Nothing more.

Question 1. is dead wrong. Depending on the study you prefer, Americans born in the bottom quartile have an 8% chance of rising to the top.

Question 2 is a half baked conspiracy theory.

The real question you should be asking is why the "gap" between the wealthy and the middle class grew under an Obama administration that tried desperately to apply democratic socialism? Why is health care continuing to increase in cost even though our half socialized system was guaranteed to reduce premiums by $2,500/ year (It is up by over $4K fyi). But what you should really ask is why should we punish people for earning boat loads of money?

This wasn't easy for me to vote on. Sure, I'm a right-wing fiscal Conservative, but I respect Bernie Sanders as an honorable man who is true to his principles and true to his word. The problem is that he's a Socialist, and I believe that Socialism is a tried-and-failed, "over-with" 20th Century form of government which has rarely been able to sustain itself with any kind of viable economy for the long-term.

Bernie has been a hyperliberal Left-winger all his life. He's been true to his cause, and he, to my knowledge, is intelligent, and he's always been trustworthy. Which is one HELL of a lot more than I can say for a slimy schemer like the "Madame Defarge" of the Democrat Party -- Hillary Clinton.
