Whether legal or not, how do you view them?

I saw this hilarious video on a guy's twitter and I figured I'd post it up here. Well, vote in the poll. You will either view them positively and explain, negatively and explain, or neutrally and explain.

EDIT

The subtitles are clean, if they were accurate, there'd be a lot more swears in there

The average immigrant? Most that I've dealt with have been fine folks who are simply looking to make a living. That's "most".

I've also run into more than a handful that are scum and have come here to deal drugs, launder money and abuse anyone they come in contact with.

Legal immigrants from Latin America, you mean?

Positively.

I'm the child of immigrants, myself, so it's only natural.

However, I can't stand people that conflate legal and illegal immigrants as the same, it's insulting.

Illegal immigrants? Negatively, doesn't matter where they come from. So, yea, very negatively in the case of illegal immigrants.

Im also the son of an immigrant.

Hard working. Proud. Strong family ties.

Uneducated. Entitled. Tolerant of govt corruption.

Ive spent the last 15 years providing medical care to this demo.

I've lived amongst Hispanics/Latins in Mexico, the US and Canada for the better part of the last quarter century. I am married to one. That said, the average Hispanic/Latin heard what Trump said, and whatever he meant does not translate well in Hispanic/Latin cultures. The average Mexican heard that **** and saw it as an attack on Mexican culture and values. Whether they're here legally or illegally is pretty much irrelevant. They saw it as an attack on them. That's not something they're going to let go of that easily. The best the GOP can do at this point is distance themselves from it all. Otherwise, 2016 will mean another Democrat in the WH.

Pretty much.

No, just immigrants in general. That is the thread and that is how it shall remain.

Well, I broke it up into two parts since you can't just describe legal and illegal immigrants as one group like that.

The average Mexican thinks the south west US belongs to mexico. Im less concerned with what they think or teach in their schools.

It really is crazy how people have rallied around Donald Trump's comments going so far as to defend him because of what they feel he meant. It doesn't matter what they feel he meant. His actual words were pretty general and he did in fact make a comment on the people of Mexico. I have quite a few upper class friends in Mexico City. People who can enter the US at any time they want because of visas and citizenship. People who have traveled the world and spend $20K on bottle service a night. They saw his commentary the exact same way this laborer did. That's not a coincidence.

Yes I can. I use the generic term "immigrant".

immigrant = "A person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country." (oxford dictionaries)

The left likes to pretend theres no difference.

My dad waited years, had to go to college to even be eligible to come here.

Why should illegals get to cut in front of everyone else?

the government takes nearly 32% of his paycheck every week, he's paying for his own care, and until he gets hurt, paying for the welfare of many natural born American citizens.

Nationalist narratives on history are entirely irrelevant to this issue. So what you think about it is of no concern to anyone. Besides, since when has historical revisionism been a problem for you?

If illegals played by the retarded rules we've set up, then they'd have to wait X^2 (X being how long your dad waited).

That's the case with some, not all.

Regardless, it's truly insulting when folks treat them as the same.

You wanted to play semantics roulette and you lost the draw. Bye now.

You clearly don't care, so no sweat off my sack.

I dont know if he is or not, didn't watch the video. Even if thats true, he's still more likely to receive govt benefits, and if he's not-he's not the "average" immigrant from latin America.

Yeah, movement of people from one nation to another-where those people already believe this land belongs to them is entirely irrelevant.

And the ad hom doesn't really help you make your case.

It's not even a minute long. Oh well, getting into things without fully digesting the OP, typical you.

So you dont like the laws therefore you get to break them? "I was only speeding because it was taking too long, officer"

Dont like the rules? Change them.

Because for every one that swims across the border-there are others waiting to do things legally who get pushed back due to the laws.

And beyond that to come here illegally, claim this is actually mexico, wave the mexican flag around (they do this less now because of the backlash), and then promptly sign up for govt benefits and social security benefits is no bueno.

Is it your premise that the person in the video is the "average" latin American immigrant?

Your thread title suggests you wanted to know what I thought. Is that not the case?

Yeah, movement of people from one nation to another-where those people already believe this land belongs to them is entirely irrelevant.

It is. People tend to believe land was stolen from them when their side loses a war. That won't change by not letting them into the country. It also ignores the fact that even if they wanted to, they simply couldn't retake it in any meaningful way without facing the modern US military. So it's entirely irrelevant.

And the ad hom doesn't really help you make your case.

There is no ad hominem. You've been caught trying to revise history a few times yourself. I merely pointed some of the similarities between you and 'the average Mexican'.

Its not irrelevant in that its part of the mindset of these people, of course they can't take it back (with a very flawed view of history) directly, but indirectly perhaps. Fact is the US southwest would look like TJ today if they were in charge.

I dont revise history, what am I a leftist?
