I'm torn on that one. I know it would (and should) give the states more say, however, I don't trust some of those turkeys in Raleigh any further than I can throw them

The point of having the states appoint the senate, is diffusion of power, make it less concentrated. Of course no politician should ever be trusted - that is the philosophical foundation of our nation, distrust of government, and an understanding that no person can be trusted with the power of government; therefore it must be as small and constrained as possible.

Certainly, "small and constrained" in no way describe American governance at any level - the elites would have it no other way.

Passage of the 17th amendment was one of the most important feathers in the Establishment's cap in their quest to centralize power.

What is the argument for repealing the 3rd amendment?

I sought this forum out on the recommendation of a trusted intelligent friend who knew I was looking for serious, well-thought-out debate. I'm questioning that friendship.

This thread was intended for amusement, I believe.
