After scanning through some of the threads, clearly there are opinions on this so don't be shy, which "side" is to blame?

Getting the poll together.

I haven't selected my tribe quite yet.

When I do, I'll assure you, though, that it will be the other one.

You'll fit right in, then.

The extreme partisan lean.

That would be the third option, I think. The thing is, "extreme" is in the eye of the beholder, isn't it? I'm sure you and I and most people could be labeled "extreme" depending on the topic and the views of those making such a judgment.

Why not ask which religion, hair style, movie, book, music or firearm was "most responsible" for the shooting? So far we have the blame being shared with (placed on?) the continued display of the stars and bars flag, too little "gun control" and now we get to try to blame a political lean? Why not just accept the idea that within a nation of over 300 million folks a small number of them will occassionally commit some seriously violent criminal acts?

Its funny that this poll is 100% at "stupid question". Reading through a lot of the other threads on this shooting you will see quite a few posters blaming conservatives.

The "lean" that is responsible is the one that supports drugs and insanity.

It is funny, isn't it? Often, when I ask a poll question, some very outspoken folks suddenly seem very shy.

If you read the manifesto and see his selected pics of himself , we get a person who
1- supports the Confederacy
2- embraces the painting of African Americans in the worst possible light
3- was obsessed with the Martin case and felt he got what he deserved

No how many liberals here can check off those three boxes?

And how many self declared people on the right - be they conservatives or right libertarians - can check of those three boxes?

An honest answer there tells you the answer to this poll.

Anyone who wears a bowl cut is probably an extremist.

It's now at 4 con 13 silly question. We agree it's not the left, at least. Why not a two-question run off for the win?

The political ideologies which appeared to have influenced him the most resemble segregationist State politics that idealize the Confederacy, the South African apartheid regime and others which reflect white superiority.

While conservatives and the Republican Party in general have to face up to uncomfortable discussions and reevaluate existing intellectual paradigms, they are not to blame for the actions of this young man. Evil is evil. That doesn't mean we get to deflect negative influences and deflect the necessity to change existing injustices or bigoted tropes dominating or hovering above such cultures.

Conservative defensiveness and sheer denial of the South's sins are, however, demonstrating the Southern conservative's inability to reevaluate itself.

Or maybe it is more conservatives tending to recognize this shooting isn't about politics or trying to point fingers at a political party for no real reason, and liberals doing the opposite and blaming people who are in no way responsible just to take cheap shots at the other party like little kids.

It's positively hysterical that you triggered a response, then call it petty. Who made the first partisan petty point? Look in a mirror.

It also funny how many Conservatives on the national scene have flubbed their response and made them look guilty by skirting the truth. All they needed to do was denounce this a racist hate crime like Roof himself stated but no it was a "mystery", an "accident" or a time to make jokes about guns.

Ted Cruz keeps cracking jokes about guns as Americans mourn Charleston terror attack

Really. Seriously. This.

They would have still caught hell for doing so, but even a "no comment" would have been better.
