Being hate group is not terrorism. If you are a occu-tard who hates rich people then you are free to hate all the rich people you want.Terrorism is the act or threat of violence used to coerce or intimidate people into doing something you want. If a occu-tard killed a wallstreet banker simply we because that occu-tard hates rich people then it is not a act of terrorism. Now if that occu-tard killed that wall-street banker with the hopes of intimidating or coercing other wall-street bankers into doing something that furthers the political goals of the occu-tard movement want then that would be terrorism.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

would depend on the hate group, are the guilty of crimes? and what do you mean pursue?

The Family Research Council and Westboro Baptist are hate groups . . . I dont want the government doing anything to them out of the normal unless they are guilty of crimes

If we did that, about next Tuesday "hate groups" would be defined as "everyone who disagrees with the administration."

Drone attacks on the RNC maybe.

have you SEEN how broadly the SPLC classifies hate groups??

The OP equated an undefined group as a terrorist org, you only achieve that status by engaging in criminal activity causing harm and intimidating a population. If they have committed terrorist acts, they do not have free speech rights, terrorism is not free speech.

The OP in effect created a truism.

I may not be asking this the right way.

I am asking you to define "hate" in a manner that would equate to enforcement of some law, and would not be a violation of the 1st Amendment.

At present you have a constitutional right to say plenty of terrible things about someone, or some demographic. It becomes "hate speech" the moment you "incite violence or prejudicial action" against someone (usually in the context of a legally defined protected individual, group, etc. Breaking civil rights law, something along those lines.)

All the groups above exist presently, and even though I am sure they are watched what they print and say about someone (or some group) is protected *until* they advocate some violent act or purposeful breaking of law.

The way you have phrased the OP, my answer is no.

The whole point of the 1st Amendment, in this context, is protecting the freedom of speech. I would agree you are responsible for what you say and that includes the element of inciting violence. You do so, you are subject to consequences. As a product of our rights it means hearing things you will not agree with, perhaps even be disgusted by.

Our issue is once you remove the incite violence or breaking some law qualifier, then all "hate groups" become is whatever political will defines hate groups to be. Take modern liberalism, who often defines far right wing rhetoric as hate speech and inciting some level of concern for governance. If we go down that road then hate speech and hate groups is nothing more than a moving target purely subjected to majority power political whim. At that point, any group could be considered a hate group. Then we have major issues, freedoms lost.

No, what the OP did was pose a question on if we should treat hate groups the same as terrorist groups. Hate groups are groups that, through speech and only speech, spreads what some consider hate. The OP did not imply or state that hate groups were violating any laws that would bring them into a terrorist category as we currently define terrorists. The OP wants to know if we should treat hate groups the same as any other criminal organization. The OP very well could have used the drug cartel as its example in place of terrorists.

The "equating" was done purely by you, not the OP.
