Yes! She's raised her children well, she hasn't been in the political forefront like Hillary was, but she's gotten involved in many causes, all positive. Of course, when she encouraged America to drink more water, that didn't sit too well with the conservatives who cannot allow themselves to be complimentary towards anything the Obamas do, ever....

I thought Barbara Bush was dignified, and would get my vote as "best". Carter would be second.

I have no memory of Johnson or Nixon, and most of my memory regarding Ford is from after the White House, so I cannot really assess her either. (I'm keeping my assessments to the time they were in the White House, not their lives before or after)

I detested Reagan and Clinton. Laura Bush and Obama were/are fine. I don't have any issues with either. Well, I don't quibble with Obama's intent on the food thing, but I do quibble with how she's been doing it.

Sorry. Michelle Obama, of course - which was strongly implied by the last sentence of my post.

I think this depends on what one expects in a First Lady? Must she be the traditional doesn't-speak-unless-spoken-to wilting flower suitable for hanging in the Blue Room? Why can't she be a high-profile leader, too, but in ways that are all positive, (mostly) non-partisan, and which set a wonderful example for our youth to look up to? This is why I think very highly of Michelle Obama.

Laura Bush or Michelle Obama. Babs and Hillary could be battle axes, and Nancy was a little cuckoo with the whole astrology thing.

I bet you Betty Ford could party, though.

Well it threw me off because it also said she raised her children well. They are still being raised and we know nothing about them so we don't know if they were raised well or not.

Okay, I'll qualify that with, "so far, it seems that she is raising her children well."
