Do you believe Bush was a good president?

Do you believe George W Bush was a good president?

We're not going to agree on Cruz.
I saw his whole interview on Neil Cavuto today--hard-hitting--follow-up questioning when Cavuto felt Cruz was ducking, dodging, incorrect.
At every chance, Cruz tried to play the "I get along with everybody" card.
When Cavuto pointed out clear differences in policy with the other 18 candidates.

What's still pissing me about him right now is his Biden joke.
Even GOP pundits are ripping him for not apologizing the same way he said the joke.
In person--not this twitter and face book crap--he lost some GOPs on this one .

Thanks. I will check it out.

I gotta tell you though, it would be hard for him to lose my support because he is so excellent in all other respects. But I'm still willing to be guided by the facts rather than emotion and an adherence to a foolish (if it were) consistency.

NIMBY, is THIS the interview you are referring to???

Your characterization of it seems like you are talking about a COMPLETELY different session.

Maybe you got it confused with another candidate or interviewer or Cavuto & Cruz but on a different day. BTW, this was marked: "Published on Jun 4, 2015".

Readers, tell me what you think.

Bush is no longer president. After they leave office ex-presidents approval usually goes up. Bill Clinton could probably win the presidency back in 2016. When he left office he wasn't that popular.

When he left office Bush's approval rating in 2008 was about 30%.(BTW that only proves how powerful politics have become in this country. 2 wars, a huge debt and an economy that was crashing and still 1 in 3 approved of the job he was doing. LOL) Obama's now is about 45%. So no, when on the job Bush approval rating has not passed Obama's.

Just so you know...

Well....when I read what you wrote is was so completely far away from reality that I had to ask. Carry on.

I wonder if it reflects the difference between a glass half full perspective and a fantasy world view, disneydude.

It’s not simply that Mr. Obama has fallen short of what he promised; it’s that he has been, in so many respects, a failure.

Choose your metrics.

Better yet, choose Mr. Obama’s metrics:

Job creation.

Economic growth.

Improving our health-care system.

Reducing the debt.

Reducing poverty.

Reducing income inequality.

Slowing the rise of the oceans.

Healing the planet.

Repairing the world.

The Russian “reset.”

Peace in the Middle East.

Red lines in Syria.

Renewed focus on Afghanistan.

A new beginning with the Arab world.

Better relations with our allies.

Depolarizing our politics.

Putting an end to the type of politics that “breeds division and conflict and cynicism.”

Working with the other party.

Transparency.

No lobbyists working in his administration.

His commitment to seek public financing in the general election.

The list goes on and on.

Nah....I don't think so. I get the 1/2 empty/1/2 full....but what you posted was so far away from any glimpse of reality it would be akin to calling a glass with an 1/8th an inch of water "almost full".

I know its an asinine question. It would like like asking if Ryan leaf is good qb or if lebron james is the worst player in NBA history. He failed at ever aspect of his presidency and to think otherwise would be to completely ignore the results of his presidency. I don't know how anyone can objectively conclude after looking at the results of his presidency that he is anything but a bad president. Despite his presidency being a unmitigated disaster he seems to have a loyal following here.

Yep, I do.

Was he perfect ? Nope, but a far better President AND human being than the clown that we have in office right now.

Yes he was a good President. Not great, but good. Most Presidents can be summed up that way.

The D or R in front of their name aside I usually find it best to look at what a president has done.

Bush:

Lowered taxes for many
No child left behind
Patriot Act
Partial-Brith Abortion Ban
Pushed for offshore drilling and domestic drilling
Presided over beginning of the 2008-2010 economic collapse
Handled Katrina
Handled 9/11
Unemployment rose pretty consistently before jumping right at the end

and since this thread is mostly just comparing bush vs obama

Obama:

Health Care reform
Bailouts
Repealed Dont ask dont tell
American Recovery and Reinvestment act
Presided over a large part of the 2008-2010 economic collapse
Repealed a lot of things Bush did
Unemployment has been dropping

I know there are other things but i think those are their major accomplishments.

Personally I dont care for either president. Neither has improved the country overall. Choosing between the two I'd give the edge to Obama simply because of unemployment.

It is my position that anyone who truly answers yes to such an absurd question is as guilty as Bush himself. For these are the very people that allowed Bush to commit his crimes.

I surprised that 12% of anyone would admit to voting for Bush....especially the second time around. Doh!

Kerry was pretty awful but you remind me of this person

I CANNOT BELIEVE NIXON WON, EVERYONE I KNOW voted for McGOVERN

LOL, BDS at its worst. Kerry was one of the biggest jokes the Dems could come up with-a guy with a lower IQ than Bush who had a lower grades at Yale than Bush despite being a cut throat ambitious schemer

Maybe you can make some citizens arrests.

Not just here, apparently.

Bush Now More Popular than Obama
Bush now more popular than Obama - CNNPolitics.com

Hahahahaha.

Presidents often become more popular once out of office. It's nothing new.

Hell I hated him as President and even I kinda like the guy after seeing some of his post Presidency interviews. Doesn't mean I've changed my opinion of his time in office in any way.

Recession schmecession. Those come and go. BHO has emboldened our adversaries and discouraged our friends.

Uh-oh, someone's been listening to Sean Hannity again. :lamo

As to the OP, Bush is near the bottom. He's just a little above Reagan, who died on this day in 2004, eleven years ago. So sad.

as a pro gun pro taxpayer who is overtaxed, Bush was far better (his justices especially) that the crap I have seen from Obama.

Overtaxed! You poor thing! Life must suck being you, right?
