As I said, you can be right, or you cann be smart. For some people, protecting their rightousness is the most important thing.

It's not a matter of one being in the so-called "real world". It's a matter of the importance of a given issue to the individual. Even with the same person, they may stand on principle over one thing because that particular thing is important to them, but let another slide because that one is not.

Precisely. You don't discourage bad behavior by rewarding and validating it.

Bingo. She'll read it as a win. And she will be emboldened for the next time... and there will be a next time.

True. It's about priorities. Some people put their own rightousness first. Others look to see how they can do the most good.

In my experience, when someone is doing something wrong, emboldening them to do even more is a good strategy.

It can be. The down side is that you don't usually get to watch as karma kicks them in the face later on.

IME, you often do get to see it. Your encouragement leads them to do things that annoy everyone. Usually, it doesn't take long before everyone else kicks them to the side.

Quite frankly, this doesn't even make sense. If everyone else sees the, OP, for example actually supporting and encouraging this lady to interrupt him and accuse everyone of being discriminatory and constantly making herself the issue at practice - how is that being any kind of a good coach? Certainly she'd have a valid defense in saying the coach said I should do this and I'm right to act this way. At the very least, the other parents, while they may not be happy with the lady, would most definitely not be impressed a coach that not only allows it, but actively encourages it.

The truth is that I really don't believe that you believe this, because that's sure not how you behave here. You're simply trying to justify why you think the OP should continually apologize and cater to this lady's feelings while making it seem like you're really not and that you really don't want the OP kicked around.

I didnt really admit to being in the wrong. I apologized for any misunderstanding and that I'd try to be more attentive. I never said I was sorry for discriminating or whatever the term is she thinks I did or was going to do.
