Rand Paul as President in 2016

I think he is a really good alternative to Jeb Bush who is not a really good Republican. Should Rand Paul be the candidate for the Republicans in 2016?

Re: Rand Paul as President in 2016

I would absolutely LOVE IT if Rand Paul were the GOP 2016 nominee for President. Its been a long time since Barry Goldwater allowed the Democrats to nearly sweep from coast to coast from the top of the ticket on down to the state level and its long overdue. Nobody could do that better except Paul.

Okay - perhaps Palin - but that is not going to happen.

For that matter -neither is Rand Paul. But its fun just the same.

Of the Republocrat choices thus far, he's the best.

I would vote for Rand Paul before I would vote for any of the other Republicans and I would vote for Rand Paul before I would vote for Hillary Clinton and most Democrats. But I would vote for Bernie Sanders before I would vote for Rand Paul. While I certainly hope Rand Paul wins the Republican nomination, I trusted his father more.

Re: Rand Paul as President in 2016

I am keeping an open mind about ALL the candidates except for Lindsay Graham. I don't know if I could hold my nose tight enough to vote for him. He would be better than Hillary, but he would likely destroy what is left of the GOP. But all the others deserve a chance to be heard and considered.

I will say there are red flags for me with Rand Paul. He was on Fox and Friends early morning today, and while I believe he is sincere, he just seems a bit unrealistic in an electronic world of instant communication in which terrorism is seriously on the rise. I want a President who is aware of the problem and looks for ways to maximize liberty AND not tie the hands of law enforcement to identify the terrorist and intercept they intentions to kill, maim, destroy. I am not convinced that Rand Paul is that man.

As of today I don't think he should be the nominee but the process has just started, and I'm going to be open minded.

Once again, it is impossible to answer the who is leaning which way poll question, but I agree with TB. It is too soon to tell. While I have eliminated some possible candidates outright, I am keeping an open mind.
What I can say for sure is that I shall not vote party line, but make my decision based on the candidate's experience, voting record, platform....

I don't think he will... but I like him more than most the other Republican candidates that I can think of. I would vote for him waaaaay before I would any of the contending democrats that are lining up.

There are two republicans that I find unacceptable, Graham and Huckabee. I'm on the fence with Santorum. I could live with the rest although I'm content to let the field narrow before I pick a favorite.

Re: Rand Paul as President in 2016

Jeb Bush is going to be the GOP nom., all the wishing and calling him 'not a good Republican', whatever that means, won't change the inevitable. He has the name, the money, the backing, and the political machine. Pencil him in now.

So the Republican voters, and the Republican voters who call themselves Libertarians but who are really Republicans better find something they like about Jeb. They still defend Jeb's brother's awful presidency, the lies, the useless Iraqi war, the crapping all over our civil rights and liberties, the growing the size of the government like never before. So it shouldn't be too hard for them to find something they like about Jeb.
