Warren: Trade Deal "Secret Because If Details Were Made Public Now, The Public Would Oppose It"

I say yes she is correct. The only reason for keeping something secret is because you do not want others to know.If this trade deal was a good thing then I would think they would want everyone to know. They would not be trying to hide the details of this trade deal.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Why is the trade deal secret if it so wonderful?

The American People have the right to know what is in it so they can tell their representatives how they want them to vote on it.

IMO, very few of the American public are qualified to approve/disapprove of any trade deal ..They simply have not the time nor the facilities .. nor the knowledge ..Congress, OTOH, does - its what they do .

Maybe so, but it wouldn't hurt to throw the lumpen proletariat a bone now and then, would it?
Let the little people have a look-see.
Why would that be a bad thing?

They simply have not the time nor the facilities .. nor the knowledge ..Congress, OTOH, does - its what they do .
Yeah....I'm certain that our stalwart reps are spending their free time studying the nuances of this trade deal.
Uh-oh.....they can't be studying the deal because it's hidden in a secret vault where all they can do...evidently...is gaze at it in all its grandeur.
Oh well.....that frees up more time for our highly qualified reps to meet with campaign donors, I guess.
Say...I'll bet those donors know a lot about the pending agreement.
I'm guessing our reps will be bribed....oops...I mean enlightened as to the merits of the deal.
No matter how cynical I become toward politicians, it's never enough.

I cant help but feel like Obama is playing the GOP like a fiddle on this and that he is absolutely ultimately setting up Warren to step in in the 10th hour, replace Hilary, and become the Dem nominee and ultimately win the presidency. When the parties are so completely split and its the GOP siding with Obama??? Come on...you just KNOW something is hinkey...

I seriously doubt those doing the trade deal and those voting to fast track the trade deal took a college course on the subject. The only reason for keeping this secret is due to the fact they do not want the general public knowing about the trade deal until it is too late to oppose it.

And it will be the republican's own fault. As far as I know anyone no one voted for republicans thinking to themselves "gee I sure hope they give Obama what he wants because the democrats were doing a horrible job at that".
